Well I don't have a dog in the fight really, not a fan from either side. But I'd think the Nets would have to have their picks back plus 1, and they like Eason. Oladipo and Tate are really just filler.
I don’t either, but I think the situation here isn’t ‘what’s Mikal worth in a vacuum?’ but more ‘are the Nets in a weird enough spot that they’d make a tough trade to give them some clear direction?’ I don’t think the answer’s clear, but I think asking for 3-4 1sts, two swaps, Eason, Tate, and filler is probably tantamount to saying you just don’t want to trade Mikal.
The owner has said that he’s not interested in tanking/rebuilding & the Nets have consistently said that Bridges is not available
Personally would trade him if the offer warranted it but all indications are that they won’t
Keep in mind that Nets have plenty of assets with which to strengthen squad anyway
Yeah and I don't think that's wrong necessarily. It does mean not starting a full rebuild now, but those are so spotty and unpredictable that I don't think they have to rush into one now at top speed. They're a decent team who could easily make the PO this year and next, and their best players are young enough and under contract for long enough that there's no need to launch into tank mode (like there is for most teams woh are treadmilling with stars about to ask out). After a few more years, they'll owe fewer picks (and be closer to having the run of PHX etc picks incoming) and can still start a rebuild after that if they need to and if they haven't found some ways to get out of treadmill land.
And practically speaking, by that time it should be obvious to everyone--ownership included--that there aren't other options.
