Olynyk feels more like salary balast here than anything else. The trade is the ~28th pick for Agbaji.
And coming from that viewpoint makes more sense. A late 1st for Ochai Agbaji still feels like an overpay, but if he's Toronto's guy, he's Toronto's guy. Helps get the team younger, and he's somewhat of a proven commodity. Late 1sts tend to be massively overrated.
Still feels like Olynyk should have been routed to a third team. He's not even good by league standards, but he's not washed. And as much as I am not a fan of the Lakers or Clippers, he could have filled a bench role on a team like that. Or the Heat. Maybe he gets bought out and this is a moot point.
But ignoring the Olynyk aspect, which I don't think even Bill Simmons is still trying to defend, I probably still would have draft stashed a Tidjane Salaun or Melvin Ajinca versus taking a flyer on Agbaji. But, I am also an idiot, so take that for what it's worth.
