For what it's worth, it's top 6 protected.

TBH, I was hoping they'd flip Oly somewhere else. Maybe he's bought out, as I agree with the other posters,, the trade is more for Agbaji and Oly is filler.

Olynyk feels more like salary balast here than anything else. The trade is the ~28th pick for Agbaji.

And coming from that viewpoint makes more sense. A late 1st for Ochai Agbaji still feels like an overpay, but if he's Toronto's guy, he's Toronto's guy. Helps get the team younger, and he's somewhat of a proven commodity. Late 1sts tend to be massively overrated.

Still feels like Olynyk should have been routed to a third team. He's not even good by league standards, but he's not washed. And as much as I am not a fan of the Lakers or Clippers, he could have filled a bench role on a team like that. Or the Heat. Maybe he gets bought out and this is a moot point.

But ignoring the Olynyk aspect, which I don't think even Bill Simmons is still trying to defend, I probably still would have draft stashed a Tidjane Salaun or Melvin Ajinca versus taking a flyer on Agbaji. But, I am also an idiot, so take that for what it's worth.

Olynyk is averaging 14/9/8 per 36 on 67% TS. He's still good.

And Raps will hopefully sign him to like a 2 year deal filling a very large hole at #2 C they have had for years.

Love this for TOR...

Olynyk in-house for a team-friendly re-up in the summer. He makes any team better with his shooting and passing. Very solid vet for what has become e a young promising team. No real risk, imo, frps are generally overrated vs high BBIQ vets on a talented young team.

Agbaji may be worth the pick himself. Bigger, younger Gary Harris. I pitched trades for him a while back and UTA fans squawked.

Raps have the Indiana pick (16-20) and the Detroit 2nd rounder (31). And maybe even their own if it's top 6

You can look at the 28th pick split between Ochai and Kelly (give whatever % you want to both) My guess is like 70-30.

Two rotation players for Toronto for two needs. POA defender and stretch big / backup center. I don't hate it.

So what does Kelly sign for this summer? Floor-stretching big man coming off a pretty good season with too much money in the market.

Eh. Above average bench guy that's capable of filling minutes as a starter. Which again is why he would be a great pickup for a pretender-contender team. I have nothing against Olynyk, and wasn't trying to make him sound like a scrub, but he is what he is. I think Bill Simmons kind of soured me on the guy. When Olynyk was on the Celtics, he was to Bill what Jokic is to anyone that understands basketball.
