yeah we are getting lots of bickering and off-topic stuff related to the other teams for some reason when obviously this deal dies here.

Like we can talk about the risk of Porter's contract, but what we can't do is pretend that Grant Williams and Josh Green suddenly have a lot of value. One was traded at the deadline and one this summer at nowhere near the valuation itt.

full disclosure on my valuation:

Ayton- neutral
Porter - a bit negative
Thybulle - a bit positive
Nnaji - a bit negative
pretty much everyone else in this trade neutral

the protected swaps that might or might not amount to anything are the cost to moving Porter and Nnaji for bite sized pieces to build a quality bench, and acquire Thybulle. Hence why Portland is getting the swaps not Charlotte. I imagine one or more of these guys are moved for some spark plug offensive wing player. If I'm wrong on the willingness to move Porter for 3-4 decent role players, I can accept that.

Porter - a bit negative??????
He was a starting SF for championship winning team, the rest of players in this trade were at best 7th players in rotation like Grant Williams, or starting C for Suns they were desperate to get rid off.

if Denver wants to build some actual depth, what other options they have? Porter would have more value if he wasn't a walking back injury and on a max deal, but if Denver doesn't want to trade him and are happy with what they've got, then I understand.

Lol.

Reath is the 4th C behind a C POR just drafted in the lotto and 2 vet C the team is likely to move if possible, one of whom needs to prove he is healthy. Of course Reath isn’t getting any time.

I’m not a Reath jocker. He’s nothing special, but he is a solid 3 point shooter on a solid contract. I’d rather have that than the handful of nothing POR gets in this deal.

It is OK not to like player that was 7th rotation player for NBA finals team Boston Celtics - Grant Williams, but he is NBA player for 6 seasons and will stay for few more.

It is ok not to like Cody Martin rotation player for Charlotte for the last 6 seasons averaging 22 mpg

It is ok not to like 10 year veteran Dario Saric, first big off the bench for GSW in the first half of last season, before they decided to give his minutes to TJD

It is OK not to like Vasilije Micic who was Euroleague MVP before coming to NBA, and was regarded as best backup PG they had in the long time by Charlotte fans.

To compare Reath to them is straight laughable.

Man spent his career playing in Serbia, China, Lebanon before signing for Portland and will be out of the league in no time. Players proposed in this trade from Portland's side are DominAyton and bunch of nobodys. If you don't like ones you are getting ok, you don't need them but they are NBA players unlike Dalano Banton, Duop Reath, Jabari Walker.

I don’t want my team to pay those guys. They are fine bench guys for a playoff team.

Who said Reath is better than those guys?

Reath is cheaper, and good enough for the small role POR sees for him.

Find another team to help DEN get a backup C for nothing.

Ok now we agree.

"I don’t want my team to pay those guys. They are fine bench guys for a playoff team." - good argument

"Who said Reath is better than those guys?" - well you said "He’s nothing special, but he is a solid 3 point shooter on a solid contract. I’d rather have that than the handful of nothing POR gets in this deal. " - if you ment handfull of nothing players Portland doesn't need we could agree on that

"Find another team to help DEN get a backup C for nothing." - well we already agreed this shouldn't be 1 trade but 2 separate Charlotte - Portland and Charlotte - Denver. But if OP tought swap for Denvers 28 first has some value to help them net Ayton, maybe he thinks it has a value to get Denver Richards. It either has value or not, it cant be - has value for them (Portland) and has no value for us (Charlotte).

Those guys have value to a playoff team, not to a dumpster fire team like POR. POR needs to draft a star (or stars) and surround them with complementary talent, not trade for that talent and hope for complementary stars.

The main reason MPJ is undredable is other teams are scared of his back and thus trying to get him for cheap. He is our starting SF, can't get him (especially for cheap). Denver has depth, after starting 5 we have Strawther and Watson. We need backup C if Saric/Nnaji can't fill that role and backup PG if Westbrook doesn't fit. For those 2 players playing 20 and 15 minutes per game Denver will not worsen their starting lineup to upgrade 2 bench spots.

MPJr is a polarizing player in terms of trade value.

I see him as an expensive non star with a history of back problems, others will see him as a potential missing piece for a team close to contention.

:D and we see him as a player without whom we couldn't have won a championship, and if we lose him we will never get a player as good and as good fit, because of his history of back problems and contract.

Agreed.

It makes any deals including him even more hypothetical.
