Let's say that you can't consolidate would you rather have another late 1st in this draft or the 2026 protected Wizards pick?

I'd probably still keep the pick. But I don't see the point of the hypothetical. Why couldn't the Wizards consolidate or trade for a future pick?

I assume all attempts to consolidate picks to move up aren't successful. Yes, they could also attempt to trade the 26th pick for a future pick but there is a chance you will just be offered another highly protected pick and some random 2nds.

The funny thing is I could actually see the Nets having no issue trading one of their late firsts in this draft where they have 5 picks in the first 36 for the 2026 protected Wizards pick but for some reason it seems you think there is a huge gap in value.

The Brooklyn part of the deal is fine.

Disagree Nate, I would 100% make this deal.
At worst/lowest value, we would be dealing #26 in 2025 for ~#35 in 2026, ~#40 in 2027, and ~#50 in 2031 (Lakers). Not THAT Bad.
At best, we would be dealing #26 in 2025 for #9 in 2026 and ~#40 in 2031 (Lakers).

That is worth it to me.

Yeah, I agree with you. Getting the peace of mind that the Wiz will never convey the 2026 1st is worth getting back three 2nd rounders from moving down from 6 to 8. That 2026 Wiz 2nd will easily be a high 2nd. 2nd rounders are also currency for future trades.

Is Fears really that much better than Demin or Traore?
I am not super high on him. I don’t see Fears being a long term leader for Brooklyn.
