I mean I could do without Powell as well, but to his credit he's been a big part of a 2nd unit that has just dominated. But he and Maxi have really different games, play different positions and have different roles.
Maxi is pretty much the analog of the modern big---he's mobile and can switch the PNR, he can protect the rim, and offensively he shoots just well enough to provide some spacing as well and he can also provide the vertical threat that Powell does so well.
Letting Maxi go would have really hurt. Powell much more of a luxury, but the team has loved him since he arrived with Rondo. So no surprise he got an extension.
What would you think about a THjr for Batum swap? Charlotte would need to give something and Dallas might have to add Lee as filler, but I like Batum on Dallas and if 2021 cap space is the idea I think that could work as well. And I think Hardaway's chucking probably makes for a more entertaining tank in Charlotte.
