Several reasons. One is chemistry. Two is age. Three is lux tax.
I don't think Camby has any chemistry problems. If anything he has great chemistry with Nene. Nene is great one on one defender, and Camby is a great help defender. It allows the Nuggets to put Nene (or Kenyon) on the better front court player and then have Camby patrol for perimeter drives and help defense.
If there is a chemistry problem it is between Iverson, JR, and Melo on offense, which is partially why it has turned into isolation plays for Denver. They don't know how to play off of each other very well.
I can understand people saying that Camby is old, but he isn't that old. He just came off being number one in blocks and second in rebounds. You don't do that if you are about to retire from the league.
Regarding lux tax, if we trade for lux tax purposes, that must mean that they feel they can survive without him, which does not support the theory that the Nugs need bigs. Also this trade would address that problem with recieving Francis's expiring Contract.
So in short, I do not believe it is because of chemistry or age. It has a little to do with Lux tax, but mostly to do with that he is desired, because he still produces at a very high level with a reasonable contract. He is one of the few tradeable contracts the Nuggets have.
