He was seen as a rising star for years in OKC. I'm not at all surprised someone finally gave him a job. His first off-season was uh odd to say the least.
If Grant is as valuable as some say; wouldn't it have been a great offseason, even if all the smaller moves were head scratching?
Grant and Bey are the only positive things he did. But to acquire Bey he paid an insane price (Kennard and 4 GOOD 2nds and he took on McGruder's dead money).
He did a pick swap with Houston and took on Ariza's dead money, eating our raw cap space.
Then he Let Wood Go and Wood before the Injury was probably going to be an all NBA player, he was the 3rd best center in the league.
He reached big time to get Isaiah Steward at #16, he's an energetic big, solid off the bench but that's about it. He's all energy and no skills at all.
He drafted a big bust at #7 in Killian Hayes.
Gave up almost 4 mil in raw cap space to acquire the #38 pick, and draft a bad player.
He also traded to acquire Delon Wright, who's meh at best.
Then the whole waive and stretch pathetic joke he did to acomodate his stuff. And sign ok players in Plumlee/Josh Jackson/Jahlil Okafor/Wayne Ellington.
He signed a scrub 2nd round pick to a 3 years guaranteed money...
And the (Please Use More Appropriate Word) donated Bruce Brown for Brooklyn and got nothing back.
Anyone with a minimum IQ would've paid Wood, and he is as good as Grant, and since everything else he did was awful, he is a complete joke as a GM.
Now, if we had Grant AND Wood AND Haliburton, then he would've been competent, nothing else would matter.
