Again, I'm happy if it does not happen and twice as happy if we don't send players for Dipo. Bjelica is a good addition after Ariza. Heat will not be great but good enough for the postseason and then we'll see.

Dumb. But good for OKC since his presence can only worsen Houston's lotto position.

Dumb not to move him even for a Fournier return. But proof that all that talk of a mid 1st was Woj paying debts and not real reporting.

There will be plenty of post-mortem takes but I'm going to go early here and say that if Miami comes away having only added Ariza and Bjelica it's a big missed opportunity with tons of guys moving around, expendable assets, and a clear ability to vault higher in the East with additional moves. But of course if the negotiations were outrageous and it was Herro or nothing, more complicated.

EDIT:

LOLLLL That's what I get for "going early"

So are we all supposed to go back to work now? Gonna be real hard to stem my excitement when my team just acquired... *checks notes* ... Torrence Davies and Christian Silver.

That's fair. Why spend assets on the wrong players though? Especially when the team has needs that are so great. I would have made an aggressive bid on someone who could change the game in the front court. Back court is complicated. Not great but likely good enough once Bradley returns.

If that holds major overplaying of the hand for Toronto. They are also clearly lotto bound, so do they buy him out?

Yeah Lowry staying makes no sense. Raps could have picked up a bunch of assets and headed into the offseason with cap space. Now its Gary Trent Jr. Masai clearly leaving.

Sign and trade is possible this summer.

The team that had too much pride to sell him cheap (or what they thought was cheap) isnt gonna buy him out

This, I get. ATL wasn't going to get equal value in a trade, they moved Rondo, so now it's going to be about matching a contract smaller than the biggest one they were allowed to offer.

No one was going to value Dinwiddie as anything more than deadweight, and if the Nets were shopping him as value it's not surprising he's staying.

Confused by Toronto as well. Opened roster spots, got younger, kept Lowry.

So now you've gone from "get him to a contender in one of his last best years" to staying put and missing the playoffs and not actually improving the team at all. Actually probably getting worse in the short term.

maybe, but from the looks of it, the best deal available was built around Duncan Robinson as the best piece. Im not sure what else the Raps are supposed to do there. Just take it? Theyve been adamant that theyre not just gonna give him away and many teams thought they would. Ya, it's not ideal for the Raps, but if i was in the FO's shoes, i'd rather lose him for nothing rather than let every FO know we're just constantly bluffing and that we will take their scraps at the 11th hour.

I fault the Raps for the lead up. Lowry shoulda been traded in the summer. I dont fault them for what happened today if indeed the best offer was build around Duncan Robinson

Wouldn't the teams that want to S&T for him already made a better offer for him at the deadline?
