If that holds major overplaying of the hand for Toronto. They are also clearly lotto bound, so do they buy him out?
The team that had too much pride to sell him cheap (or what they thought was cheap) isnt gonna buy him out
So now you've gone from "get him to a contender in one of his last best years" to staying put and missing the playoffs and not actually improving the team at all. Actually probably getting worse in the short term.
maybe, but from the looks of it, the best deal available was built around Duncan Robinson as the best piece. Im not sure what else the Raps are supposed to do there. Just take it? Theyve been adamant that theyre not just gonna give him away and many teams thought they would. Ya, it's not ideal for the Raps, but if i was in the FO's shoes, i'd rather lose him for nothing rather than let every FO know we're just constantly bluffing and that we will take their scraps at the 11th hour.
I fault the Raps for the lead up. Lowry shoulda been traded in the summer. I dont fault them for what happened today if indeed the best offer was build around Duncan Robinson
