POR/SAC/DAL Probably needs help

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Sat Aug 1, 2026 4:39 pm

Blazers trade: Sharpe
Blazers get: Washington

Kings trade: LaVine
Kings get: Sharpe/Martin/Thompson

Mavs trade: Washington/Martin/Thompson
Mavs get: LaVine

Feels to me like Portland owes a bit of value to the Kings, but I might be lower on Sharpe than I should be?

Blazers part much discussed, balances their lineup, gives them a nice 3 man forward rotation, clears some guard glut.Washington can also play some small ball 5 which helps when Williams misses games.

Kings move a guy they aren't committed to even playing for a young SG to move forward with. Maybe due value?

Mavs deal from their forward glut to get backcourt help, with no long-term commitment but Bird Rights if he fits. If nothing else financial flexibility moving forward. Dumping Martin makes up some for the value loss in trading Washington for LaVine.

I think the whole point of Levine in the trade rumors was the 1st round pick that is to accompany him. Honestly, Ai think, if we trade for him, he will take the Kris Middleton role and not be in Mavs future. The pick would be in Mavs future.

I would prefer washington over sharpe for the kings. Sharpe might be younger but the reason we don't want lavine is the same reason we don't want sharpe, we can't play him with Acuff and expect the other team not to just kill us at the guard spot.

Completely indifferent on a Sharpe/Washington swap.
Feels like LaVine is being slightly overvalued here.

I think Blazers owe some value here, but not a 1st. Maybe Yang? Who's youth/potential still carries a bit of value? Though agree with the Kings fan, i think they cut out the Blazers here.

Like the deal for Sac with Washington coming back instead of Sharpe. A wing rotation of Keegan Murray/Washington/Hunter gives 3 switchable plus size wings that can shoot.

Possibly. But I think LaVine has a chance to have a strong year. He’s healthy, in a contract year, and Sac for some reason stacked last years roster with guards and ball dominant guys. Now with DeRozan, Westbrook, Schroder, Ellis, Devin Carter all gone the playmaking duties will fall mostly on LaVine, Monk and Acuff.

If Portland isn’t adding value, I assume they get cut out.

I don’t love it for Dallas, but at some point there should be a roster balancing move.

At this point with Lavine opting in I’m happy to send him home to rot until he begs for a reasonable buyout.

I see zero point to giving up the $49 million in expiring money he repreeents for next season. And I laugh at people thinking that there is any world where Scott Perry is fool enough to ADD VALUE to move him for no reason.

Unless a package of young prospects/picks is coming back for an expiring of that size who actually can still help the right team? Not interested in the slightest.

Weird response to a deal the OP suggested the Kings were owed value.

Yea if PDX were cut out, could Sacramento do a 1 for 3 trade? WOuld they be interested in PJ/Klay/Caleb? I think PJ is the best player of all the guys being dealt, so that alone could be an incentive.

I think the Sac/Dallas trade works best

Lavine
for
PJ, Klay, & Martin

This allows the Kings to fill out their roster while staying below the tax.

It helps Dallas balance the roster better

Yea id hate to lose PJ. But the FO has essentially dug this team into an imbalanced hole, so this type of trade makes sense. Plus it opens up roster spots for them to potentially sign the 2nd round pick they like and maybe another vet min PG

We're at 13 roster spots right now so we could do a 1 for 3 deal and not need to cut anyone. I imagine Klay would be bought out regardless though and we would just keep the open roster spot or bring in another point guard.

Is that a deal you'd be in favor of as a Kings fan?

If it came with a couple seconds I think I would do this, yes. I like PJ's fit between Keegan and Sabonis in the starting unit quite a bit, I think moving Keegan back to the 3 will be a huge benefit to him too. Ideally we'd dump Martin somewhere at the deadline or next summer to preserve some of the space that opens up, we'd still have some space to maneuver and gather some assets. Either get a point guard to round out the roster or target someone like Agbaji as a placeholder 2 guard in the starting lineup.

Acuff/Sharp
Agbaji/Monk/Clifford/Plowden
Keegan/Hunter/Martin
PJ/Precious/Karaban
Sabonis/Max/Cardwell

If we're holding on to Sabonis for this season at least, this would be a decent group to put around him. I don't expect we'd be any good still but it's a team I could root for.

Is what Dallas sends a neutral value package? I think that is where the problem is. Probably can be balanced with Sacramento getting a bunch of seconds between POR/DAL.

I think the only negative is Martin. Klay is expiring so I don't think that can be considered negative. PJ is more positive than Caleb is negative imo
