Should we tank this year, try to lose as much as possible and get the highest pick possible?

like ... 2 losses... 3 wins... 2 losses, 2 wins. It will finish the season with .500 basketball. I wish this team would atleast FINISH their record at .500 with 41-41 but it doesnt seem likely. We would have to go on a tear of some sort.

Bucks schedule looks hard tho... they might drop. Indiana will get a spot, we will fight with the Hornets who are a good team bitten by injuries too.

I thought after Boston we were cooked, because the Hornets could go back up with a win agains the Kings and that didnt happen lol...

still that Boston game will haunt us, cause now Boston may start fighting for a spot thanks to us.

Honestly don't think Boston will challenge. Pacers and Bucks will make it. Its Heat v Hornets for 8th. I thought Nets could be a threat but after today and watching Bird/UD go off...

Thanks to a big concerted effort by Flash, Dragon, Bird and UD. It's a big nite for the whole team. I have a strong feeling we have just booked our ticket for the Finals.

Here are the remaining opponents for all the teams fighting for the 7th and 8th slot:

Boston: Brooklyn, Charlotte, Cleveland (2), Detroit (2), Indianapolis (2), LA Clippers, Miami, Milwaukee (2), New York, OKC, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Antonio, Toronto (2)

Miami: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland (2), Denver, Detroit (2), Indianapolis, Milwaukee, OKC, Orlando, Philadelphia, Portland, San Antonio, Toronto (2)

Thanks for the legwork. It seems we have a slightly easier schedule than Charlotte.

Indiana got away with a relatively "lite" schedule and should finish 7th.

We do not have to win 4 of these games. It would be nice, but it is not necessary. You need to look at the entire schedule for all the teams to see the problem more accurately.

Tbh it doesn't look any easier. If we go badly over the next 6-8 games we will be trying to play catch up with a tough schedule. Need to win some of these tough games so that the tough games later on don't become must win games.

Good stuff. Appreciate the effort.

I think it's a 2-horse race between us and Charlotte. Charlotte have it just as tough it seems. I'd be a bit worried if we have to win 7 out of last 10. That's a lot of mental pressure. It might all depend on how many of those teams we play late are tanking for extra ping pong balls by the time we play them. Hopefully we can steal a 3rd win out of those 8. Someone like Milwaukee who we haven't played since the Dragic trade.

Look at what happened to Detroit over the last few weeks. That throws a monkey-wrench into every projection. We have 2 games with Detroit left and they've lost 9 straight. Detroit was the hottest team in the East not long ago except for the Hawks and Cavaliers.

Hopefully Whiteside doesn't do anything stupid before or during those games. If we can match them for size we should win.

It really is a toss-up and none of these teams are out of it - not even Detroit. Indiana, Miami, and Charlotte have the best chance and the games that are most important are the ones between each of us. Brooklyn will also need to react. Remember they have nothing to gain by missing the playoffs. Their games with Indiana and Charlotte are going to be toughly fought.

Let's make an experiment. Assume Boston, Brooklyn, Miami, Charlotte, Detroit, Indiana, and Milwaukee have just about the same chance to lock up a playoff position. Now let's see how they can interact with each other and the other teams they face. I left Milwaukee out of the projections because I assume they will get at least 8th seed.

Boston starts from a little behind, plays 4 teams in top 4 in the East (Cleveland twice and Toronto twice), along with OKC, Clippers, and San Antonio (SEVEN tough teams). They also have games with New York, Philadelphia, and Orlando that should not be difficult. The other 9 games are against teams from 6,7,8 in the East or one of the teams that fights for them. Nine games they can affect the outcome. Boston is the spoiler that can slip in from outside.

Brooklyn are even worse ranked now, but their schedule is really not bad. Sure, they get EIGHT tough games: Atlanta twice, Cleveland twice, Portland, Toronto, Chicago, and Washington which are all very challenging. They also have 6 games with Milwaukee and others that are directly competing. The rest of their schedule looks easy: 5 games against bottom feeders Philly, Orlando, New York, Minnesota, and Lakers. Do not count Brooklyn out and if they start killing off competitors they can still slip in.

Charlotte have NINE tough ones: Atlanta twice, Chicago twice, Houston, the Clippers, Toronto twice, and Washington. Then they have 6 games with their competitors and easier games with Utah, Sacramento (in California - big difference), and Minnesota. These last 3 should be easy, but Utah is feasting at the moment and even Minnesota seem better since we played them.

I like Detroit's schedule the most. Atlanta, Chicago twice, Cleveland, Memphis, Portland, and Toronto are SEVEN tough ones. They play 7 games with competitors (and none with the Bucks). Utah, Philly, Orlando, and New York should all be easily winnable games, but Detroit isn't winning right now. They played well against GS but didn't have the will to kill.

Indiana plays 8 games against teams that it competes with for the bottom 3 (6/7/8) slots. They have NINE tough games against Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, OKC, Toronto, and Washington twice. The only game they can sleep through is the Knicks.

Miami's schedule has 6 games against direct competitors, along with NINE tough games against Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland (2), OKC, Portland, San Antonio, and Toronto (2). The remaining games against Denver, Orlando, Philadelphia are all easier but must win games. The game in Philadelphia is the last game of the year and we lost it last year. In any case, though, we have 3 easier games.

In short, it's anybody's race.

I don't know, but I think Hollinger's Playoff Odds is a good guide to go by. The odds for Indiana, Miami, Charlotte, Boston, Brooklyn and Detroit are 87.6, 40.4, 33.1, 30.3, 7.5 and 2.6% respectively. We are in good company.

With the W against the Cavs tonite, it seems our chance of making it to the Post-Season has suddenly brightened up. We now have a 3-way tie with the Pacers and the Celtics for 7th place. Go Heat!!
