He's basically eating everyone alive no matter how big they are and inching closer to the basket with every dribble.

Hassan's 265 right now and Bynum was 285. Drummond is 280 and is doing pretty well for himself when it comes to inching closer to the basket too. I feel like Whiteside in the post relies on his spin for seperation and his wingspan, while Drummond primarily uses his body. Drummond gets them off balance when he puts that shoulder into them a couple times. Should Hassan put on a little more weight so he can rely on his body more in the post? That 1 dribble spin can be predictable sometimes, but there's nothing you can do if he was a little bigger and just knocking the defender back little by little. He already has the potential to be a better version of Bynum since he's a better shooter but I think if he adds that weight (10-15 more pounds), it's a wrap. That spin he likes would be even more deadly since the defender will be off balance and further away when he starts to go up.

I honestly think Hassan might be too heavy as he currently is. His main asset is his length and explosion. He has a terrifying ability to cross the entire painted area and block a shot on the opposite side of the court from where his man is. It's that, that should be worked on and perfected.

Hassan was like 215lbs when he entered the league so he's naturally not a beefy guy, he's already put on a ton of weight I think adding more would just further worsen his stamina and hurt his mobility.

Yeah, guess it's up to Hassan if he's willing to sacrifice a little defense to be a lot better offensively. Doubt he will though, he's doing fine the way he is.

Edit: Oh and is there anything Hassan can do to improve his quickness (not lateral)? By that I mean look how quick Bynum's shimmys and spins are (example at 1:00, 1:08, 1:31).

Hassan is essentially still very much raw w/ plenty to learn. This is not a final product. Alot more to teach, alot more improvements & definitely alot more maturing and growth. I think Hassan together w/ Heat coachign staff will do what's right w/ his body. We aren't trying to turn him into anybody else. He has his own identity.

He doesn't have to be anybody else. Adding weight and improving his quickness with his back to the basket would just be another way to improve his offense in the post.

Hassan and Bynum are both 7 footers and have the same wingspan. Hard not to compare them. One was amazing offensively, and good defensively. The other is amazing defensively and decent offensively. Just want Whiteside to be amazing offensively. Wade ain't always gonna be here. Want Whiteside to be the go-to guy eventually. I prefer post game over jumpshots (Bosh) cause you're closer to the rim and you're more likely to get fouled (perfect since Hassan's a great FT shooter)

Absolutely NO to Hassan putting even more weight.

The league is faster these days, style changed. He needs to be mobile, he's having trouble with P&R defense as is, last thing he needs is to become heavier. He's longer then 99% of Centers, he needs to work on his post moves, jump hooks, doesn't have to be pushing people around.

His relative quickness also makes him the shot blocker he is. As a team we're running more and more, he won't be able to keep up as a 285 pounder. More weight not only will hurt his explosiveness, it will also hurt his cardio (he's already prone to taking plays off due to fatigue) and even increases the % of leg injuries. no no no.

His body is perfect for todays league looking at the Centers he's facing and the defense that is required.

If anything a point can be made about him losing 10 pounds for extra speed.

It's probably been mentioned already, but Justise had a pretty good month of March too relative to his season averages. He shot 47% from the field and 38.5% from three, compared to the roughly 42% and 25% he had been averaging pre-March. Still wonking it at the free throw line, but its an upward trend.

I didn't say he should get to 285…

I'm sure. The rookie competition between the two is surely better for both of them. As for their shooting, I'm giving credit to the addition of Joe Johnson.

I think it's been mentioned many times on air that the two of them get in the gym together at every opportunity to work on their games. I think it's not about competition between them but about complementing each other.

I've noticed in the last few gales that they play a 2 man game together to help each out quite a lot.

Its always about the competition. I doubt Winslow wants to be the rookie shooting 25% from three. He knows he has to improve. He has to look no further than Richardson to see a great example of what success he should shoot for. Any player of any age wants to be better than the next guy. It's the competitive spirit. These guys are no different.

That's from a personal standpoint. From a team perspective, learning to complement each other is going to lead to wins, which is the name of the game. They've exceeded my expectations in this regard so far this season.

Man Bynum had such a drop off. What was it injuries? Lack of motivation? The Sixers? His weird hairdoos towards the end? All of the above?

Injuries. He had game. We've lost too many quality centers to injuries over the past decade or so. The bigger they are, the harder it is for them to stay healthy. It makes me appreciate the level of play we saw from guys like Hakeem and Admiral and others who were able to stay relatively healthy for so long. It also makes me sad that we didn't get to see more of Walton and Sampson.

Those guys were very nimble and athletic for such tall people. More reason for Hassan not to add extra 20 pounds lol

Usually heavy-duty bigs are more likely to go down with devastating injuries like Yao, Bynum, Oden etc. Look at Gasol bros too.

I think I was most disappointed in Yao since he was so unique. Followed by Oden, then Bynum in recent memories. Bynum had a complete game, but I didn't care for his attitude/antics. Elbowing a midget mid-air cuz you're losing? Not cool.

Hassan definitely doesn't need to add any weight in my opinion. He's solid just like he is. The constant pounding on your legs is too much. Adding weight increases the work load and decreases the longevity of a player. It's not like he's Brandon Ingram and needs to develop muscle. Hassan is built. He's maximized his physique for basketball.

Yao was a brilliant basketball player. He was so skilled and so smart, and so funny. He was a once in a lifetime player whose career was destroyed by injuries. I look back at how much of Wade's prime was missed or hampered because of injury. Imagine being a Rockets fan.

Oden was a beast too. He would have been a definite two way player. Those Blazers teams could have been great. A healthy Roy and Oden alongside LMA. Dang.

My favorite Bynum moment was his showing up Shaq, followed by Shaq getting offended and trying to knock him out. What a pair.

2 in the top 10

On the same topic, im begginig to wonder how much of Booker's success is due to how bad his team is. 42.6% FG% is pretty bad and 35% from 3 is okay. Plus is defense is trash,
