Outside of that, it doesn't matter how others improve their game. Our future rides on those two getting better at putting the ball in the basket consistently.
Our future always rides on our young guys developing, until we trade them (ie Winslow/Rich)
If we know early that they likely won't lead us to a chip, might be smarter to start looking for suitors (especially if they might help us get the type of star needed)
Those 2 were always limited offensively, especially Winslow who I said should not have been extended. But I do agree at sink or swim for the young guys. Give them minutes, we aren't a contender anyway. Trae Young would NOT have had the rookie season he had in Atlanta if he was drafted here, but that was important in him becoming the player leading the Hawks in th ECF. I have no interest in taking 5 years to groom a role player
I kept hearing the same damn narrative about Thibodeau also. Coaches like Spoelstra and Thibodeau play the best players and if a rookie is good enough they're going to get minutes unless there are better players in front of them THEN it's up to the FO to decide if they should move a player in the way of a young player to make more time for them.
I just don't get the idea of not acquiring good talent in the hopes of younger players becoming better. One might think the young guys can learn from the better older players.
Let's look at Duncan Robinson... he could shoot the 3 but didn't get minutes his rookie season, listened to the coaching staff on what he needed to work on, used his offseason to put on weight, get stronger, work on his skills and he ends up being put in the rotation at the start of his 2nd season then by game 5 was put in the starting lineup and started all but one of the rest of the games for Miami.
I just don't get why people think Miami has all this great "young" talent other then Miami has been forced to utilize the younger players because they couldn't acquire better talent because of the 2021 plan restricted them from giving out longer contracts.
I still can't believe this FO did nothing to address the issue of no true starting big opposite of Bam till over half the season was over, it's quite possible with a true starting big most of the season Miami got the 4th or 5th seed and possibly could have been in the conference finals this year like Atlanta is. I believe Miami could have got past New York and with a legit starting big next to Bam I could see them getting past this 76ers team.
