What if the Kings miss the playoffs this year? Fox for sure isn’t extending if that’s the case but will the Kings trade their franchise guy or will they take the risk that they can lock him back down in free agency (assuming he doesn’t ask for a trade this summer)? We can make a huge run at Fox in 2026 as of right now and get him without giving up the assets it would take to get him this summer

But ... and I can't stress this enough ... Jimmy doesn't have the power to sign anyone at any price. That's Pat. If Jimmy could spend the Heat's money, he would have given himself an extension. The fact that Pat made a poor decision in order to appease Jimmy doesn't absolve him of his total responsibility for the boneheaded move.
It only looks poor in hindsight though. The contract was always a bit high yes, but Lowry was a player playing a position we needed who just also happened to be Jimmy's mate. The FO had to have thought that acquiring Lowry was a coup because it filled a position of need AND we get someone JB likely signed off on. Didn't pan out quite as it could have, and Lowry ultimately was a dud. When do players become accountable for their actions and play? Also, there isn't a front office in the league that gets every single decision correct every time. People worried about us being a play in team now without Jimmy, we're a play in team WITH Jimmy.
