This sums up to be perfect tank bait.

If we trade Dragic for a lottery pick, we'll lose a lot, and get a high lottery pick of our own. So we'll end up with 2, which we might combine to use to move up in the draft and get a truly generational player.

Add 1 or 2 lottery talents to a core of :

Weber
TJ
Rich
Winslow
Hassan

And all of a sudden we're Minnesota East - one of the most exiting and promising young teams in the league.

Hassan's not all that young either, if we trade Dragic for future fate then we midas whale do Whiteside for the same. Big men don't always age so gracefully either

Hassan should be in his prime for another 8 years or so. His game is based on length and touch more then on quickness.

Also heavily relies on his athleticism to dunk and block shots. 8 years is a long time so idk... His touch and length can still be useful but he's going to have to grow into a better (more patient to say the least) post player and one-on-one defender

If we're going full-tank then our max/near max players may be more useful as picks, we can't hoard talent and tank... Don't think that's going to be real productive.

Hassan should be in his prime for another 4 or 5 years so hopefully the rebuild is quick. His game is based on length and touch more then on quickness.

We're not running a Sixers tank. We're doing it once, this year when we own our pick.

What're the chances that the draft nets us a player better than Hassan? Throwing away real talent for potential is not a smart approach.

In the case of Goran he's already 30 which is what makes the difference. He's worth more to someone else than he is to us.

Hassan on the other hand just turned 27. He'll be right in the thick of his prime for the entirety of his contract. Unlike with Goran we don't have to worry about diminishing returns with Hassan.

Hell Hassan might be worth more in two years than he is right now.

Dru Smith very lucky he got that 500k this year. He should invest and manage a subway after all this-MettaWorldPanda

Not to mention Centers peak at ages 28-34 and Guards start to decline at 30. Also Hassan still isn't a finished product.

Hassan = 27 YO Center = fits our future contending window.

Dragic = 30YO PG = does not fit our timetable, would make more sense on ready now teams.

What are the chances that we net a rookie or rookies in return for Goran and end up being a better team or at the least an above lotto team the next season?

If we don't land a top 10 player in FA we'll probably end up paying more for a player of Goran's caliber, if possible. If we don't get the right player then it's rinse and repeat again and a purposeful tanking of prime Hassan seasons. A prime we can't sure about. Forecasting years ahead of a players career is a mistake at least half of the time, I'm just in the line of thinking of the immediate future. You either rebuild or you retool, can't be inbetween. I'm not against the pick but trading Dragic for draft picks sounds like a rebuild move/team to me. Dragic's not all that but if you're going to trade him then package him for a better player instead of sending the team into a limbo with the Lotto.

Lets say that Bosh and Dragic have amazing first halves of the season, what would be the best package we could get for them combined? Okafor and 2 firsts?

bosh is going to need to show he can play a full season, if he did, he could net a nice package.
SoFlaKingReal wrote:Hopefully the Heat are confident they can move McRoberts...Riley seems to have loaded up on guys who can play PF (D. Williams, J. Johnson, U. Haslem, even L. Babbitt and W. Reed). There has also been talk of Winslow getting time at the 4.

I don't see how McRoberts fits....lets pray he's on the move soon.

Our best bet is to try and play mcroberts, and raise his value. If he can show a 3 month stretch of solid play, it would be a lit esaier to trade him, we might even get something too lol.

What does everyone think about the Heat signing Willie Reed? Sounds like more depth at Center. Heat may be running out of Roster spots.

He seems good solid pickup, he had some attitude problems nothing what Udonis can't handle.

Why I have a feeling McRoberts will not be good enough to earn time on this bad roster.

Wow! Am I understanding this right? " I see the hate. Just don't switch up when the underdog's on top." Is that bullet meant for me as a Heat fan? Tyler Johnson is out of his mind. If he wants to alienate over 70% of the fan base - go for it. I would not have matched the Nets offer - that doesn't mean I hate him. Tyler Johnson I hope you morph into Magic Johnson - you're already sharing his last name and both have played for Riley - can't wait to see the transformation ...- Geez.

Dragic peaked in 2014. We should try and move his friendly contract while he is still playing at a decent level before he starts to noticeably decline.

Ethan Skolnick said about 10 teams are interested in Dragic and some teams would include draft picks.

Goals for the year:

Top 5 pick
Move mcroberts for whatever to avoid him potentially opting in
Move Dragic on draft day for a top 15 pick (new Orleans, Houston, Philly)
Move Bosh after a healthy season for assets, hopefully a 2018 pick
Westbrook and Griffin

I think wade handcuffed dragic. and without wade dragic will be able to do what he wants. we have surrounded him with shooters

jrich
TJ
ellington
babbit

i think we will be a better shooting team this year.

dragic value is gonna look even better in feb if he stays healthy

I think he's a perfect addition. Reed can play PF or Center. He's a good player and it's a cheap deal with some flexibility.

Even if Bosh plays again, I think he'll be untradeable for the rest of his career due to the non-predictable nature of blood clots coming back.

I'm actually interested in seeing Tyler Johnson play. Obviously as a Heat fan I go with whatever Riley does with Johnson. i wouldn't have matched and I can't wait to be proven wrong. Hope Tyler tweets less and plays more.
