So it's old news freshly leaked to increase offers. Makes sense. So we're now throwing in Strus.

Nets wld have told us to go away already if they were no longer considering our offer. Fact that we're still in the discussion indicates we're still in this.

I'm surprised KD's willingness to play in Boston after weeks of reports his pref is Miami. Doesn't sit quite right...

It sure would be great to get KD, but I hope Riley doesn't go Thanos and regrets it later, realizing it costed everything.

I mean, it's cool and all, but hopefully they draw a line somewhere and hold firm to how much they're willing to give up.

Anyway about the Butler 3. Miami had 22 secs left, a timeout, were only down by 2, had momentum, at home.

Jimmy... even IF he made the 3 pointer, Celtics down 1 point with 16 seconds left on the clock. Coulda lost anyway.

Such a low IQ play by Jimmy.

Low IQ shot without a doubt.
My brother and I were left looking at each other and wondering what the hell did just happen, why the shot?

My brother, a very casual basketball fan, if that, turned to me and said it should’ve been a 2 points attempt to tie, and a possible foul could have been given to go ahead.

None of us know ball better than Jimmy or anyone on the Heat, they all loved the shot. It was the right play. Jimmy was gassed after backpacking the team, he went for the kill shot. If he misses he’s wrong to the fans; if he makes it it’s one of the greatest shots in Heat history. There’s no inbetween

It doesn’t take a genius to know the type of attempt needed in such situation, but I’ll give you he doing everything at that point and being gassed, something that it was pretty clear. However, it was not a regular season game where you come back the next game. It was win or go home, so going hard inside one more time was the way to go regardless. Also Strus was coming center court behind him, so if he was so tired there were plenty of time to pass it to Strus.

And as far as your other point, you can be a hero with any type of shot going in, but you will be blamed for not making the wrong shot.

That's why the KD trade talks have been so quiet lately. Nets have a high asking price and contending teams won't be able to contend if they match that price by gutting their roster and draft assets. Everyone is just waiting on the Nets to lower their price lol

Total RFP's out to Nets 5, with Herro and 2 other players headed to Brooklyn not from Miami.

vs

Brown-White and "draft pick" (not clear to me its a first)

Boston obviously has the ability to up the ante and close the book on this thing. But as things stand is Boston's offer really clear cut better for 2 years of Brown before he's an UFA?

I think that's why we're still in the conversation & haven't been told to move on. Until Boston include Smart we're still in this. Giving up Smart is similar us trading Bam - it takes away a big part of both teams identity & strength defensively as a unit. The fact it's been weeks & they haven't thrown Smart in is good news, for now.

Let's see how this plays out. If Nets choose our package, w/out Bam included, it will be interesting what C's decide w/ Smart.

AEGBRG wrote:I think the biggest news of the day though since the Boston offer is being reported as "old news" is that Durant is not all-in on going to Miami or Phoenix. He clearly is open to going to Boston as well and who knows who else on top of that. Riley seems to have done all that he can (can't force Durant to come here and only here).

The only reason the Boston offer is being used for negotiation at this time is because it was green lit by Durant as of this morning, he probably was told about a week ago and has been mulling it over himself. They are probably telling him he isn't going anywhere based on current offers and he is getting antsy.

Wld make sense after reports him making Miami his preferred destination then suddenly accepting a trade to Boston. KD then wld still have Miami as his destination & perhaps that's a significant part of why we're still in the conversation.

I didnt like the shot, but looking back at it a few times.. that shot was literally emptying the tank, the last thing we had left to beat Boston. Kind of like what Jimmy did in Game 5 against the Lakers in the Finals. We had nothing left after. Jimmy knew the situation, the injuries, the fact that he was literally carrying the team on his shoulders. If that shot wasnt going to win it, nothing else would have won the series. Boston is clearly better, built better, more athletic, more skilled.

We had Gabe vincent, strus and caleb playing important minutes for us in the post season…

our second best player against the celtics was not Lowry, not Herro, not Duncan Robinson… not even Bam… it was 37 year old PJ Tucker… we had no business being in that series, the only reason we are there is there is because of Butler, our coaching staff, attitude and the development of players that we didnt even draft….

Boston wld still have a 24yo elite scorer & all-star in Tatum. What wld we be left with exactly if we trade Bam? a 33yo Jimmy Butler.

than give it to um.. bam has no offensive game, and herro cant even make the starting lineup or gave us anything in the postseason. Maybe you could negotiate Less FRPs based on how much pure talent your giving up? i dunno. Bam + herro + 1 FRP ? id take that if i was brooklyn. maybe you get a slighty better offer from boston in terms of FRPs but if KDs prefers miami and wont sign off on the trade, you;d wana deal him to miami to avoid other issues with the trade. You can surround jimmy and KD with nothing but role players, i guarantee you they both will still take you to the finals.

Our lineup would be Lowry / Dipo / Butler / KD / Dedmon? with a bench of Caleb, Strus, Vincent, Duncan, Jovic and Yurt?

Small title window and we have to hope our core 3 (Lowry, KD, Butler) doesn't get injured or becomes washed the next couple years

you have 2 year window to win. maybe 3. depends on health... i would just try preserve our FRPs... even if it means giving up strus too. So if KD and jim fizzle out, we have Assets to start a rebuild.

Return to Miami Heat
