I totally agree with BPA with a pick in the top 10, or with a rebuilding team.
But we're all in, win now mode next 3 years. So unless the player drafted can somehow fit and get on the court to be helpful soon, I don't think it makes sense to pick a Bam clone or a Robinson clone, even if he might be BPA. We won't have the room to give them a real chance to develop. So at #20, BPA might become a role-less role player.
I agree with REX, I think they are still in BPA situation. One reason is we should expect roster change via trade eventually. So the need today may not be the need tomorrow. I know some expect the Heat to just sit and wait for Giannis. I know all the conspiracies about Heat knowing for years they we were getting the Bosh and James. That is not true, Heat had a deal in place with Amare but he wouldn't agree to resign if trafed for. Very close to getting Odom back and Boozer. Riley didn't ignore possible moves before the big three, doubt Giannis alone will change that. A yr ago the Heat tried to get Paul and Wesbrook.
Second I do not believe the Heat are in position to draft a player who going to start. Do we really believe a rookie is going to come in and beat out our top 10 players that currently on the roster? Is there a player who is mentally developed and physically developed enough to be trusted with significant minutes at 20. Oturu may be physically developed enough but is he mentally? Maxey i think is more in the KZ scenario. Terry? He definitely small, is he mentally developed enough?
