There is ZERO chance Miami would make Miller an offer unless they knew what Lebron was doing. They would not risk losing Lebron by making this offer. The timing overwhelmingly suggests that Miami either knows he's coming or not. There is no uncertainty anymore, and the front office knows exactly what's going on.

Exactly.

By the way, I'll say it...If we have ALL of our cap space tied up in three or four players for five years, that puts us in such a vulnerable position.

We have the money if we move Beasley. 560 is wrong.

Please don't lean on a local know-nothing like Curtis Stephenson for cap analysis. Mopper is correct.

Their is another possibility. The Wiz could be doing a sign and trade involving Beasley for Mike Miller. They are pretty clearly looking to add as many assets as they can, and we're pretty clearly in win now mode. It makes a ton of sense.

Beasley gets a fresh start, and we get a guy we covet who spaces the floor next to Wade, James, and Bosh. Sign Brad Miller for the minimum and call it an offseason.

And yes, I would definitely expect to see a lot of Wade, Miller, Bron on the floor together with Bosh, but I would expect Miller to be more of a 6th man for us rather than a starter. Chalmers, Wade, and James with Mike Miller off the pine? Sign a reserve point guard like Earl Watson, sign a guy like Brad Miller or Big Z at center, keep Joel Anthony, and find a replacement for UD (unless he takes the minimum) and call it an offseason...

Er...I'm rereading my own post, and I may have spoken too strongly. We will have room under the cap, but not necessarily enough to sign Miller to a deal of that size...

Wait, is this even possible? Bosh and Mike Miller S&T in a four team deal?

Wrong and wrong. Once we are against the cap, we can start using the mid-level exception every year and the bi-annual LLE. If anything, we would only get stronger every year.

Yeah, that makes sense then. The Beasley deal moves the salary to free up money for $5M. But, if we renounce Haslem, don't we get more cash to use?

But the majority of our money is still tied up in so few players. So yes, we are vulnerable. That being said, unless two of them go down with injury at the same time, I don't see it being a gaping problem.

The deal offered to Miller might not be at the size being reported. Point is that we would have space to offer a nice sized contract to Miller should we shed Beasley.

Question, and it can be a dumb one... can we leave Wade's signing to the end and that wont count against the cap cause we have his bird rights??

Just to piggyback on Rainking, the Lakers have 58.8 million in salary (or the entirety of their cap space) committed to: Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum. That's it.

They have another high earner in Lamar Odom (thanks to holding his Bird Rights) and one MLE player in Ron Artest.

I think the key here is we have yet to see Wade/Bosh contract numbers.

No. There is a caphold in place for Wade's free agent rights.

Rising, is it harder in the NBA to get the superstars to win a title, or the role players?

So which should you do first when you have the chance?

We old-timers that've been through this process a couple times (Zo/Juwan offseason, Shaq trade) and know for certain that role players can be found EASILY. When we traded for Shaq, everyone was like "They have no PF to play with him now! Oh no!" But it turns out, Haslem fit beautifully. You can go back through Riley's history and find DOZENS of role players he's found and turned into something valuable.

Relax. Let's focus on the core of stars first. Role players are the easy part.

It would be beyond hilarious if we eneded up signed Juwan Howard as a vet ring chaser. 15 years later. Lulz.

I GURANTEE Bron has made a call to Big Z to come aboard.
