Guys like Joel Anthony, Tristan Thompson & Dwight Howard move way too mechanically to be compared to Adebayo. Adebayo seems fluid in his movement. He moves with more grace and elegance in the post compared to those guys. And, his moves are more quick and decisive in general. He doesn't waist any time initiating his moves.

One thing I also notice about Adebayo is his dexterity. He has a left and a right hook. He would be a headache for opposing defenses if he can convert as easily over his right shoulder as is left one. His footwork in the post is very underrated as well.

The semantics are what they are but I'm saying that while they haven't said what position he will play, there is no way they watched him play last season and drafted him to play PF and based on his skillset I believe he's going to play Center. There's nothing wrong with that but that's JMO I know it's not something we're going to agree on. The shooting's encouraging for what the workout is worth but he doesn't have the skillset for a perimeter player.

Never implied there was anything wrong with him playing center. I'm saying Riley and Spo wouldn't be this giddy over drafting a backup center. Riley wouldn't even hint at mentioning Shawn Kemp, regardless of context, if a limited skill set, backup center is all he saw.

Now whether the"wow factor" and "wow workout" Riley and Spo each used, as reference to the first time they got to see Bam work face to face, was a true glimpse into what his game can ultimately be is a different story; but they clearly have high expectations.

No they don't. People are gonna hate Bam Bam when he's out there committing turnovers and taking ill-advised robotic hooks from the post when he can't just muscle dudes around.

It's ok to like him, but expectations like this are why people hate Justise as well, back when we drafted him the idea of him being Andre Iguodala was repugnant to people, no one wanted to hear anything less than Butler and Kawhi.

If Bam becomes Tristan Thompson I'd be ecstatic.

this is the east, we can be the 3rd best team behind cel and boston.

Wouldn't that make us the second best team?

I agree. Feel like he wants to show loyalty to the players who bought into the culture. The team really does feel like a family. I think Riley is no doubt cherishing the chemistry.
i dont want another mediocre season. the heat needs a a player or two that can make everyone even better. i care about wins not feels here

MettaWorldPanda wrote:We need to sign or trade for a third PG. A legit pass first PG who can break down a defense. It was terrible last year when Goran would get banged up and we had no other legit pure PG on the roster. TJ is coming along but his best position is still SG. He played so well when he was paired with Dragic and when Waiters would take over ball handling.

I wasn't happy that the Heat had to let Weber go. He was overhyped a tad, but a solid third string PG nonetheless. I remember the Heat lost a couple of games last season simply because Goran ran out of steam and TJ could not pick up all the slack (March 12 when Dragic had to sit in close loss to Pacers and the close loss April 7 to the Raptors.)

There's a good chance that Weber or another solid 3rd string pg at the least would have reduced Dragic's wear and tear from so many played minutes, especially at the tail end with Waiters hurt.

Why not?

Also possible that they see him as a potential starter

Adebayo had 5 assists in his second to last game at Kentucky. IMO, Adebayo's a top 5 pick. He doesn't have any glaring weaknesses like some of the other lottery prospects and has the potential to become a unique player at his position.

This team had a 41 game sample size of being the best team in the EC, a 30-11 record in the 2nd half of the season which included going 15-5 vs playoff teams. People can cry "sample size" all they want but 41 consecutive games is in fact an objectively sufficient sample size

So how did this team dominate? Some seem to think it was a fluke or that we caught lightning in a bottle. It wasn't and we didn't, this team is legit talented and the depth is scary good. Go down the roster and notice that no team in recent memory has been as stacked from 4-9 as Miami was in 2017:

4 - James Johnson
5 - Tyler Johnson
6 - Wayne Ellington
7 - Josh Richardson
8 - Rodney McGruder
9 - Luke Babbit

This^^ doesn't even take into account low-minute yet effective reserves Ed Weed and Okaro White. Nor does it include _ustise who despite his shooting issues still promises to be an impact role player at the very least

This is arguably an unprecedented level of substantive deep roster depth in NBA history. This alone guarantees a healthy regular season record

So from 4-9 we're the best in the league. 1-3 isn't a big 3 on the level of LeBron/Wade/Bosh, but a trio of Whiteside/Dragic/Waiters at the top of the roster is an impressive compliment to the strength in numbers from 4-9. Both Whiteside and Dragic are all-star caliber players who consistently deliver all-star caliber production and and Dion is a wild card that flashes greatness here and there

Put it all together and this is a 50-55 win team

I think if we stay healthy we can rack up some wins for sure. Not sure that'll translate to playoff success, but if we can at least get to a 4/5 matchup we have a chance. The East is really bad.
