Wish we could clone Wade. My good ess. At his peak, he was the best.
I really feel that sustained success has to be a fortuitous 3 year draft rebuild where you can lineup big free agency acquisitions before salaries blow up.
All that takes a bit of luck as well. You have to hit on those drafts and the right FAs have to be available.
Imagine if Wade could have been paired with a couple more top five draft picks. Maybe he could've had more sustained success.
I think that’s the major difference between having a long-standing dynasty or not. Which I actually think we’re in the beginning of right now but it’ll be more through trades/free agency.
We have the cornerstone in Bam, we’ve added Jimmy as the superstar. 1 finals trip and 1 shot away from 2. You can argue injuries cost us the ring in 2020. Now you get KD and win at least 2 championships over the next 4 seasons, retooling role players as needed over the next 4 summers. Then KD and Jimmys contracts end and you pivot and finally bring in Mitchell and another one of their friends (Tatum?) and potentially keep KD and/or Jimmy on team friendly deals Late in their career to be solid contributors to the team and then you win rings in the new Bam/Mitchell/Tatum era

Obviously a lot of things have to go right for this to happen but these are all guys who want to be here and have been pretty open about it, we just have to make it happen. 15 years or so of sustained greatness
