Just to be clear, 90% of Bucks fans on here are only entertaining trade ideas now because Giannis or his agent seemingly leaked their uncertainty about his future with the Bucks.

We all love Giannis, and I will never forget how he saved this franchise, nor do I ever want him to leave the Bucks. He’s the greatest Buck of all time. He will get his statue and will be celebrated in Milwaukee forever. This is his decision. If he wants to stay, all he has to do is say the word.

Idk why it would be just because of that. We aren't winning a chip with this team and Doc so trading him even if he never requested it makes tons of sense right now. This is the last year to get max value.

Yeah, but it also does make it easier to leave the Bucks, even if it was originally a decision that could easily be justified independently of his future NBA plans.

I still think that Horst scrounges up something to appease Giannis for the rest of the year though. Horst has his drafting warts, but he's been an outright conjurer in terms of cap gymnastics, midnight max extensions, and unexpected trades to appease Giannis. My prediction is that they trade this year's more valuable pick (they can dodge the Stepien rule as long as they acquire a late 2026 first-rounder in return) and Kuzma for a serviceable rebounder/defender, ideally at SF.

I've generally believed Giannis wasn't willing to go make a public statement slamming the trade rumors and would instead kind of softly reaffirm his commitment to the team (which he did lots of times) because he's just wired different than most athletes and didnt want to make a statement that would look bad in the future if he ever changed his mind.

Maybe that's still what's going on here with the "I see a wall and want to run through it" of it all, but his presumed leaks to Haynes recently have felt more like "I will continue to play hard as long as I'm here" which is completely different and sounds a lot more like he actually does want out to me.

Giannis does not want the challenge of retooling this team after the failed trades his pushed for and atom bomb explosion of a coaching situation he set off.

A gap year until we recoup a modicum of draft assets to bring in more talent is too long.

Also Mariah doesn’t like the cold and Milwaukee could be more glamorous not to mention lucrative for sponsors.

Giannis + Thanasis for Johnson + Risacher + NOP 1st works in the trade checker.

Risacher is more of a salary filler lottery ticket at this point. Can't remember a more insignificant #1 pick since maybe Anthony Bennett.

I really don't think it's out of the question to ask for BOTH Johnson and the NOP pick. ATL will still have a good supporting cast around Giannis to compete and the pick adds incentive to Johnson who is a good player, but also comes with his own injury history.

Injury history is my JJ concern.

Giannis has been consistent from day one. He said he would stay as long as the team was winning. We did a lot of winning and he stayed longer than most would've. Giannis will always be loved here.

It really is this simple and it's weird how some simply never took his word for it. I get that sports fans always need to invent reasons to hate a once beloved guy as soon as it's clear the business relationship is over, but if he gets traded for a haul in the next few weeks, then this was about the least acrimonious and most win-win superstar divorce in recent history. Dude has always been honest about his motivations.

No. It's a legit injury that they're obviously gonna milk an extra few weeks to keep him out of the spotlight until they can fully gauge the trade landscape. Like most conspiracies, it completely falls apart once you apply basic logic (why would he rush back from the groin injury and why wouldn't they have just said he re-aggravated it?).

Seriously. A lot of name calling last week. I will always love Giannis and will look back fondly at his time here. Spending all of my money on that title run was the best sports experience of my life, and will not be topped. But this whole song and dance at the end is just gross. There had to have been a better way. Or maybe those folks were right. Giannis can't support his team from the bench because the strain needs constant attention due to blood flow issues. Verrrry believable all things considered.

One of the primary reasons I’m not into the fake injury conspiracy is Giannis absolutely cares about his stats and basically 0’s across the board tanks all his per game stats.

My issue with his “winning” demands is that he refuses to buy into a tank or a gap year.
