For those into sports betting in the MKE area, I went to Poto last night around 6 to check it all out.
There are 5-6 kiosks on the third floor as you enter from the parking garage. Very convenient if you just want to bet and leave. Or go down the escalators to the main floor, turn left and go past the craps tables to where the Firepit Sportsbar used to be. That's where the temporary location is. There were 3 betting windows to place bets with a person. Also more kiosks. A small bar, a few tables, a few TV's, a few odds boards on the wall. This is all temporary until the new, large sportsbook is opened in the fall. Kiosks are available 24 hours. Not sure what the hours for the betting windows are. Winning bets can be cashed there or at the regular casino cashiers.
I tried all 3 ways to make bets:
1. At the window with a clerk. New employees plus new software means it's not a fast process but that's to be expected. Tell the guy who you are betting on and for how much, simple. He'll ask if it's the points line or money line. Each bet generates a separate ticket as expected. The guy had trouble figuring out how to punch everything in, take my money and then print all the tickets (as is done in Vegas). So each one was done separately. No big deal. I placed a couple of final 4 bets, a couple of NBA bets for tonight, a couple of baseball parlays.
2. Kiosks. Easy to use. Select the sport you want and everything appears on the screen. Pick the game, enter the amount. Cash only, slide your bills into the machine. Ticket prints out. You can bet on virtually everything around the world. Darts? You bet. Individual player props? Yup. Futures? Yup.
3. QR code. The best way to bet. From the website I had selected a couple of bets and each one generated a QR code, I just took a screen shot of them a couple of hours before I went. Go to the kiosk and scan the bar code and your bet(s) come right up. Insert the cash and you're good to go. Of course if the odds changed from the time you created the QR code you get the current odds/points at the time you are making the bet.
Overall a pretty good experience. They were smart to hold off until after football and March Madness as the area is small for now.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.
