Could our biggest attempt at a fa move really be signing one of the shorter term name sg's with local ties like Wade or Butler, while just letting Middleton go or s&t'ing him for the most we can get? Then their plan could be Vaughn steps in place of them in 2-3 years when he's 21-22. I think especially Wade would make sense with that idea because there's little chance he'd be a viable starter beyond that and theoretically he fits in lineups with Vasquez who can share ball-handling duties, guard 2's, and shoot off the ball some.
I don't think yesterday's events, barring future ones, inkle a pursuit of a center much. We still have all 3 of our centers in Henson, Zaza, and Plumlee. We didn't move any yet. That more than covers us from a #'s perspective, especially with the small ball trend. We'd probably have to move one to make Chandler or Rolo part of the plan too. Could have in part drafted Vaughn as a solid to Schwartz to improve our chances of landing Chandler. But then Middleton would need to be s&t'ed for Wade/Butler if you're going to try and add both.

Personally I think this idea is a little overstated with guys like Chandler/Jordan. Sure it would be nice to have a guy who can stick a jumper but they take up a ton of attention when they're near the basket and are huge threats on pick and rolls, if you leave these guys you can be punished pretty easily. Pretty much what "good" Henson does except at a higher level. Especially amplified if you believe Parker/Giannis are going to command a ton of attention offensively.

I'd rather have Robin Lopez than Kanter without question. Lopez isn't great at anything, but is solid at most everything. Play him 30 minutes and we could get about 12 points and 9 boards, with solid defense. He's also only 26.
Problem is though he'll have multiple other suitors.

Not a skilled post scorer like Lopez or an athletic freak like DJ but he'll be rock solid on both ends. He could be our Mozgov. Roll with Koufos/Henson/Zaza, Plumlee can fit in wherever he earns his place.
We should explore the Adams situation in OKC as well.

This is where I just don't agree. I mean if you had like Bogut or something standing there I think it causes a lot of problems but having a guy who is an absolute monster in the pick and roll or stepping in from the baseline can aid a driving team a ton.

I try to eventually operate under the belief most people are reasonable, and so there is a logical thought process behind what they do, even if it may be wrong. I don't know, maybe I shouldn't operate under that belief, but with Kohl gone I thought it was warranted for a while.
By itself, or with Chandler or Lopez/Middleton, the Vasquez trade doesn't make sense. Vaughn makes a little sense, but it only adds to the confusion if Middleton is back. So that's where I'm at right now. Hoping and half expecting there is some kind of Chip Kelly revelation at the end here where I get where they were going with this.

Seriously though I think this is just Kidd saying he likes a guy and tells Hammond go get him. As far as Vaughn I want to think it was just BPA on Hammond's board but a small paranoid part of me says its Kidd hooking up another of his agents clients. OK maybe that part isn't so small. God Kidd with absolute power scares the **** out of me.
