We were told by fans who said we got something for nothing in the Zeller trade we'd be able to buy one no problem. So they and the f.o. should be held to that. We need the depth and have added to it the last 2 drafts. Proceed as if we already have secured that pick. Should be some discussion about who we're going to select then.
Rawle Alkins seems like practically a slam dunk as a good role player. He's played in the combine scrimmages the last 2 years and impressed in 3 of 4 of those matches. That's a good sample to draw from. Long arms, reads passing lanes, stays in your shirt, can shoot, plays his role.
There is a possibility too that if we'd pass on Spellman at 17 he'd still be there early in the 2nd. I think he's being criminally underrated here. I see a lot of parallels with Horford. Actually marginally better measurements, powerful athletes, knows how to play, good character, won national championship, almost as old but he's much less experienced. Good in both combine games. Biancardi claimed scouts told him him along with Spellman's fellow Wildcat teammate Divicenzo were most impressive of the week. Although the media analysts only thought he performed decently.
Okogie, Melton, and Wagner also intrigue me.
