Gimme more! Who else should I check out?

Zhaire Smith and Jontay Porter

He seems to have mixed reviews among the posters here, but you should check out Aaron Holiday if you haven’t already considering that’s who Givony or The Ringer (can’t remember which) is mocking to us right now.

The second round is going to have some talented players in it so I'm hoping the Bucks can be the team that buys into the second round this year.

Alize Johnson
Kenrich Williams
Svi Mykhailiuk

These are some examples, not to mention the players that could fall with the draft being as deep as it is.

Where does Mortiz Wagner fall to in the draft? He could be a fun small ball 5 for this team

Here is my thoughts about the Bucks draft

Players that could but probably won't fall to 17 that I'd draft immediately:
Robert Williams
SGA

Players that could fall that I pass on:
Kevin Knox
Lonnie Walker
Miles Bridges

Players most likely available at 17 I'd draft (in order):
Khyri Thomas
Chandler Hutchison
Jontay Porter
Zhaire Smith
Shake Milton
Landry Shamet

Players most likely available at 17 I pass on:
Dzanan Musa
Gary Trent Jr
Aaron Holiday
Anfernee Simons
Mitchell Robinson

That's where I'm at currently for the Bucks, there are some players in the draft that probably get taken after 17 that I like but wouldn't draft that early. Like DiVincenzo, Huerter, Keita Bates Diop etc.

Just want to say thinks to all of you for doing such fine work here. My interest level in the draft would be next to zero if not for these writeups. As a token of my appreciation here's a random girl doing cardiovascular activity...

Quick analysis:

Smith: Hmm. I don't know. Crazy athletic but what position does he play? Is he Will Barton with less offensive ability?

Jontay Porter: He reminds me of Jahlil Okafor (the reality not the prospect) but with Olynk's jump shot. I'd take that at 17.

Porter is definitely Olynyk, maybe with better handles
https://basketballscouting.wordpress.com/2018/05/02/jontay-porter-scouting-report/

Smith is a really good defender actually, smart kid that picks up on the little things quickly. He’s limited offensively until he develops a handle but if he does, damn he’ll be a good player.

I think Porter is probably a bit better of a passer than Olynyk is, but otherwise that’s spot on. I think Porter and Giannis running the pick and roll together could be amazing. He sets great screens and us great instincts for whether he should pop or dive.

Disclaimer: I heard this on a draft video about Jontay but cannot confirm it myself. Apparently Jontay assisted on 20% of all of the field goals scored while he was on the court. If true that is insane for a big guy.

This is also an interesting overview:

Like to see the owners dig deep and buy an extra pick in the late 1st/early 2nd.

No chance the Bucks would pass on Miles Bridges if he miraculously fell to them. He shouldn’t fall past 10. Doubt he even makes it past Cleveland.

We were told by fans who said we got something for nothing in the Zeller trade we'd be able to buy one no problem. So they and the f.o. should be held to that. We need the depth and have added to it the last 2 drafts. Proceed as if we already have secured that pick. Should be some discussion about who we're going to select then.

Rawle Alkins seems like practically a slam dunk as a good role player. He's played in the combine scrimmages the last 2 years and impressed in 3 of 4 of those matches. That's a good sample to draw from. Long arms, reads passing lanes, stays in your shirt, can shoot, plays his role.

There is a possibility too that if we'd pass on Spellman at 17 he'd still be there early in the 2nd. I think he's being criminally underrated here. I see a lot of parallels with Horford. Actually marginally better measurements, powerful athletes, knows how to play, good character, won national championship, almost as old but he's much less experienced. Good in both combine games. Biancardi claimed scouts told him him along with Spellman's fellow Wildcat teammate Divicenzo were most impressive of the week. Although the media analysts only thought he performed decently.

Okogie, Melton, and Wagner also intrigue me.

I think Khyri Thomas is the guy I want at #17 right now. I haven't looked in depth at his numbers, but watching him reminds me a bit of Donovan Mitchell. Probably a bit less athletic. Impressed with his 6' 10.5'' wingspan.

Agree, I'm also liking Thomas.

Definitely not as explosive. Like, imho, nowhere near as explosive. BUT, an Atl poster came here and said he’s a Budz player to a T. And, hard to look past Team Length. To me, his movement reminds me of a Jrue Holiday upside, w a little Shelvin Mack vet savvy, but the length and maneuverability of DeJounte Murray with a MUCH much better shot and overall smarts.

I think WE all know the Bucks should buy into the 2nd. It’s a no brainer. BUT, they’ve shown a disrespect for some time for 2nd rdrs. They’ve sold underslot and, recently at least, they’ve not valued multiple 2nds. And, of course, there’s the tiny gallon syndrome. In my opinion, if they actually buy in it will be another positive sign. CAn they stack these positive moves?

It'll be interesting to see if we have another mad house in our draft room again this year or if Bud and Horst can tone it down and just have the main scouts and front office personnel there. I can't stand to see another video with all the owners and their kids sitting around twiddling their thumbs.

They apparently have 3.3 million to spend on a second rounder. They absolutely need to pick up a 2nd, basically the only way to build our bench at this point.

As for my firsts within our range right now I'm at:
SG-A
Troy Brown
Kevin Knox

I'm just hoping Alex Lasry doesn't tweet a freaking picture of the Bucks' draft board during the draft again.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
