I’m into this. I’d be interested in adding the ‘31 1st to see what combo forward we could bring back other than Torrey.

Ayo being able to create some and play on both end would be very welcome here, though.

What about a Portis for Chris Boucher? I haven’t seen him play in a year or two but I kind of remember him as a high energy small ball 5 that can switch around

MKE: Kuminga, Thomas, Looney
GSW: Portis, Schröder
BKN: Melton, Connaughton, Beauchamp, GSW '26 1st, MKE '31 1st

Feels off and close-ish at the same time, just workshopping out loud. Probably has to be AJ Johnson instead of Beauchamp and Warriors keep their 1st, IDK.

I don’t think Cam T is a good fit for this team. If we could somehow get them to part with Cam J instead that’d be more enticing. It’s a lot to trade that pick though. Does this deal put us ahead of Boston?

Not a big Cam Thomas guy myself, but he could be pretty useful off the bench. This deal helps versus Boston because of Kuminga.

It's just really tough to get Cam Johnson. This team won't trade Dame, Khris or Brook, I don't think, and you need one of them to get the better Cam.

Last night was a perfect example of why I want to acquire Dalano Banton. We need another ballhandler/playmaker, and we need someone who can guard 4s and switch. Banton is quick, has a 9' standing reach, and gets a lot of his minutes at PG because Portland has too many forwards.

I'm getting used to all the ridiculous trade proposals on here, so there is progress.

On another note:

1) I see that Tari Eason only played 18 minutes in an OT win against the Timberwolves. No points, 3 rebounds. I liked him a lot when I saw him in person playing in college. I liked his raw skills and size, but wasn't enamored with his motor. His offense this season isn't good.

2) And DDV has fallen off a cliff. They've been playing him less and less.

Both these guys could probably be had. They both play good defense.

Eason's had a rough couple of nights and DDV is slumping this year but you're still not going to get either of them for what we're offering.

The '31 first might get us in the conversation if you get a third team involved... Maybe.

Houston's only gonna throw Eason in a trade for a bigger offensive star level guy (at minimum a Brandon Ingram type). They're looking to make the next step as a contender, not downgrade for more assets. I just don't see what use they'd have for salary filler and a distant 1st round pick, which is all we can offer at this point. They'd have to really love someone like Bobby.

Pelicans don’t need Eason all they got is wings. Thinking about that scenario!

Would Houston possibly be in to Ingram?

Changing agents might indicate he’s gotten more realistic about his next contract. But even then I’m not clear what teams would want to trade much asset value in addition.

"Needs" in order:

1. athletic big
2. ancillary perimeter creator
3. big wing defender/small ball 4

Only 1 may be a need. 2 is a problem that shows when a star is missing, but it's gonna happen ya figure. It's a strong want at least. 3 might be a bonus. They could just try Livingston to contain a strong, athletic wing like Jimmy. Might not trust him in the playoffs.

These are definitely the needs. I go back and forth on the order, mostly due to what playoff lineups could look like, but I think when we take it a step further and look at a cost-benefit analysis, your order probably becomes the right one.

3) For instance, I’d love Eason here, who’d fit point 3, but he either likely isn’t available or we wouldn’t have the assets to acquire him. When we start to do down the list of defensive combo forwards who don’t suck on offense, the list gets really small and every team is after that archetype.

The idea would be they’d be large enough to battle 4’s and quick enough to cover 3’s. This would allow us to hide Khris on the weaker forward option. Player X on Kawhi, Khris on Derrick Jones jr. Player X on Siakam, Khris on Nesmith.

They would also have to be better than Prince, who isn’t good defensively but isn’t awful, either, and he’s been a really productive play finisher for us who doesn’t get tunnel vision. He’s been good, mostly.

Consider someone like Naji Marshall, he’d be pretty expensive to acquire and the gains would be slim.

2) You are absolutely right that our creation issues largely go away when fully healthy. If we were to acquire a player, they’d have to be able to impact the game in other ways to be worth it. They absolutely could not be a player that has to have the ball in their hands to see value.

I’d like to have a guy who could catch and attack on a rotating defense. That’s something we haven’t reliably had since brogdon, but it’s not dire either.

1) This is the one we struggle to approximate the value for currently outside Giannis, and should be the cheapest to acquire. At least a big who can defend, maybe not super athletic. We need a guy who knows where to be and can get there. That’s basically it.

I’m also not sure how much that player would play in the post season, though. There’s matchups where brook is an asset, and he should play 30+ minutes, and there’s matchups where Brook should barely see the court. In the latter scenario, I’d think you’d just go Giannis at the 5.

There are still minutes available but not a ton. If the big is cheap to acquire, that’s fine. If he’s expensive, it gives me pause.

Not just Doc and not just lately, Arenas has been hating on Giannis for a while. Genuinely stupid dude and a xenophobe, it frustrates me that he's gotten such a big platform these days.

Something that maybe conceptually does enough to reshape the roster.

Mke: Nance, 2nd
Atl: Bobby

We get a smart defensive big who knows where to be, is a solid enough shooter, and moves the ball well on offense.

Mke: Ayo
Whores: Pat, ‘31 1st (protect it however you want)

Ayo gives us a significant boost in quickness on the perimeter offensively. He’s someone who can create a little for himself, but also in a lesser role should be able to play good defense and capably attack a defense on ball swings.

He’d probably take most of Delon and Trent’s minutes.

He’d fit well.

Mke: Watford
Brk: Marjon, 2nd or two

We trade an expiring for an expiring, and add a 2nd. Watford at least gives us the body type we may need. He’s 6’8.5, 240, and has a wingspan over 7’. His block and steal rates are solid. His 3pt% is decent, but he has a slow release.

He’s a body we don’t have, and he should be cheap, so we take a flier on him.

We'd be dangerous as hell with this move. Swapping him for Bobby eliminates basically our last defensive weakness outside of Dame. Even with Bobby, in this 7 out of 8 run Bucks are on, they're 6th in the league in DRTG. Swap out a terrible defensive big with a solid one and they'd be capable of top 3-5 level defense in any game where they try.

Could be nothing but I just realized that Cam Thomas has the same agent with Giannis (and all his brothers of course), Alex Saratsis. Maybe there is something going. Cam losing 3-4 weeks with an injury doesn't do any favors to Brooklyn.

Good for Jennings. And he could have been bitter for being traded for KM.
