Yup, I could see that too.

imo the best chance to get value for him is at the deadline assuming he's playing well early next yr. Teams just have too many other options in the summer. Why would a team with cap space give up a 1st rounder for him when they could simply sign someone just as good in free agency and not give up the asset?europa wrote:DocHoliday wrote:I think Ersan could net us as high as the Suns pick #17 if we package say #36 with him
I'd be shocked if a team parted with a Top 20 pick for Ilyasova unless he was combined with something more valuable than a second. I think late first is the best you're gonna get for him and at this point I'd take it with the hope I could package that and 36 and try to move up.

are teams really still selling picks? I could be wrong but I don't think that's happened since the new cba. Those cheap rookie deals have more value than ever before.JayMKE wrote:we could probably get a 1st for Ersan if we eat some toxic contract, Boozer as mentioned.
I think we probably could get another pick pretty easy just paying straight cash, maybe give up some 2nds. Not every team wants another guaranteed contract.

yeah I live in Phoenix and am a bball polygamist with the suns and bucks equally my favorite teams. I can't see them using their cap space on Illysova. They see themselves as players in the free agent market the next two yrs. and if fry opts into the final yr of his deal (which he probably will) they don't really have a use for Ersan with him and Morris manning the 4 spot. I do think phoenix will try like hell to move up in the draft or will throw a big package at Atlanta if a guy like Horford came available.europa wrote:I'd take 27 for Ilyasova in a heartbeat. I'd push it and ask for #16 but Chicago can just waive Boozer. Ersan and Delfino give them 3 point shooting and can contribute to a playoff run.
Pick a guy like GRIII, Zach LaVine, Kyle Anderson
maybe they'd bite on #16 if we added #31, 5 rookies would be a lot altho we could use those extra picks to pick guys to stash overseas.

Heck I've heard from credible sources that phoenix turned down 1st rounder or Archie griffin for Thad young last deadline so I can't see them offering more for a lesser player in Illysova.

Honestly I've thought the same thing but everything I've heard locally is he's probably opting in. He did struggle shooting late in the yr and maybe his agent thinks he would only get around 3 mil per on a new deal so he'd rather take the 6.8 this yr and try again in the summer of 15.DocHoliday wrote:WeekapaugGroove wrote:yeah I live in Phoenix and am a bball polygamist with the suns and bucks equally my favorite teams. Why would Frye opt in? He's 31, this is his last shot at landing a new contract that would be for more than 1 year.

Every year you'd come on here and say that you've gotten word Hammond is trying to get an additional first rounder.....![]()
oh yeah if knights included I could see a decent asset coming back.Chuck Diesel wrote:I really think a Brandon Knight, Ersan Ilyasova package could fetch us something tasty in the draft. BucksFanSD wrote:I'd think if we draft Parker it would be for the following reasons (I slightly favor Wiggins after Embiid btw):
- Hammond might think he's the second best prospect in the draft, and he might very well be (or tied for it for that matter).
- He measured 6'9 (in shoes) so he has size to play PF in the NBA. Especially if the team has a lengthy SF and C combo to pair him with (i.e. our Bucks).
- Start of the college season he just tore it up. Immediate impact player.
- Perhaps more wins immediately to "sell" the new arena and also help Hammond keep his job.
- Alpha male scorer. Bucks are lacking one and as a team they were 28th in scoring. They also lacked scoring on the front line.
- Great teammate
- Super high character. Would be the face of the franchise in an utmost positive way.
- Likely to stay loyal to the franchise (super loyal, super high character, from Chicago) for the next decade
- Solves our PF woes we've had since Anthony Mason, etc for the last 15 years.
Note: These are just my opinions only and is not to say the other prospects don't exhibit these.
