I you read the article he is not a defender nor a shooter. And the Cavs won anyways.Badgerlander wrote:msiris wrote:I just feel that he is just another guy who does not provide any form of spacing.emunney wrote:

You’d draft him banking on him developing along a Jaylen Brown, Oladipo, Donovan Mitchell type curve. Following the model of the Celtics and putting 5 guys on the floor that can defend, pass, drive, or shoot. Not just a wing and some shooters like the Cavs

He's got a nice easy shot. The caveat with all these guys is will they be dedicated enough, and will they put in the *right* work. That's unknown for everyone. I look at the bones of this guy's game though and I don't see any major problems that need to be corrected - he doesn't need to take any steps back to move forward. All I see is a strong, broad foundation to build on.
The only issue I have is his smallish hands.

How high of a draft pick do you guys think we could get if we sign and trade Jabari, and package Bledsoe and Henson as well? I am willing to include #17 as well but as a last resort. Having two 1st rounders would be huge!

He is actually a very good defender and his shot form is fine. No he isn’t a shooter as in off the dribble necessarily but he has great tools. The Cavs won because LeBron but they aren’t beating the Warriors and I think the Celtics have the best shot at becoming a Warriors type team as their young guys get better.

Smith wasn’t able to consistently get to the rim off-the-bounce because teams would sag off his shot. I know that the draft is a crap shoot but thats one thing that bothered me the most about him. Do we need more guys like him?emunney wrote:msiris wrote:I just feel that he is just another guy who does not provide any form of spacing.emunney wrote:

No argument that we can need guys who can shoot (would argue that Smith has shown more signs that he can than that he can't, despite his hesitance), but the draft is about projection and securing talent, not about filling a specific, current need. There are more practical ways to fill needs and balance the roster.
Apart from that point, I don't think it's a Bucks-specific thing to need guards who can shoot. If you don't have them, you're behind the 8-ball. I wouldn't advocate picking a guard who I didn't think had that skill in his future. I'm not naive about the development that'll need to happen. I just think he's got a better starting point than most.

I dont think Zhaire Smith's jumper is even remotely close to fine. It needs a boatload of work. He will never become a consistent shooter with that slow ass release. He looks like Jake Shuttlesworth when he shoots. It's very ugly and that low volume decent efficiency won't look the same in the nba.
I like Smith a lot as a prospect overall but his shot is my red flag and it's a big one considering what this team needs.

**** - good point. Ok lets say #17, Bledsoe, and Henson then. What pick could that net us?

I really hope we bring on Ben Sullivan. I'd love to see what he could do with some of these mediocre shooters like Smith, Melton, Hutchison, Vanderbilt, etc. If those guys get a reliable shot, they would be total steals.

I'm not a Musa fan, he's a scorer but a very streaky one that takes awful shots. He looks impressive at times when those shots are falling but they don't fall nearly enough for me to want to draft him. He's 6'9 but very thin, don't view him as a good defender either. I wouldn't draft him.

Listening to the latest Locked On Bucks and they were talking about the desire to pair an off the dribble three point shooting PG with Giannis.
This had me imagining a move up to grab Trae Young to pair with Giannis. I know some people are skeptical of Young but if he hits, he would be ideal with Giannis.
