If I was Giannis, I'd be more annoyed that the Bucks prioritized a perennial playoff turd like Eric Bledsoe over a guy like Malcom Brogdon.

Guess Giannis must still be mad that we traded away his best friend MCW, right?
Giannis immediately demanded a trade when the Bucks got rid of Thon, who Giannis called his "little brother" and Tony Snell, another close Antetokounmpo confidant.

Giannis wasn’t actually upset though, that was an obvious Kidd media manipulation. Getting rid of a bad coach is different than getting rid of a good teammate.

Unlike the Rockets owner who is in the restaurant business and has gotten crushed financially this year, the Bucks’ owners are making a killing with their hedge funds. Market has been positively on fire, and our Billionaires should be flush with cash.

I feel like these leaks are coming from Lasry's camp, no? They seem to paint him in a positive light.

As much as I was - and still am - a bit annoyed by the Brogdon walk, I think the financial considerations were one of many reasonable justifications for letting him go.

This is assuming that Giannis didn't want Bled back at all costs at that point in time.

Yeah, it's not hard for me to acknowledge that Brogdon is a good player who we had many good reasons to trade for picks.

Re-signing bled was absolutely the right call. Have you seen us try and defend playmaking guards and wings without him? Its a nightmare. His contract was very appropriate for a great defensive player who you are hoping can further develop his offensive game. His shooting seems to have improved this year but he still has no in between game and that limits us on offense.

Bucks just should've waited until the offseason to give him that extension. Would've saved at least a few million.
At the time, I had no idea he was eligible for an in season extension, so Bucks only had the 1 playoff failure on his record
I remember he signed that and then destroyed the Lakers for like 36 points and he's never had a game close to that for us again

The only real argument you can make for not re-signing Brogdon is his injury history. But even with that, I would still rather take my chances with Brogdon than continusly put my playoff fate in the hands of a mental midgit like Eric Bledsoe.

1. Malcolm wanted out partly because he wanted to be the man at point. That included taking the ball out of Giannis hands
2. If Giannis really wanted Malcolm, he would have been retained last year.
ETA: Sure NBA media syncophants are pushing the "We didn't keep Malcolm cuz the owners is cheap, it's that easy" but I'm not sure that reflects the actual situation.
The luxury tax current discussion relates more to taking on a massive deal like Chris Paul's IMO.

Brogdon's vision (or lack thereof) on the fast break, I hope, is one of the many reasons the Bucks let him walk.

I mean anyone who has even just watched some Bucks games the last couple of years would know how much having Brogdon in place of Bledsoe would have helped. Bledsoe was atrocious in the playoffs last year and he followed that up with a similarly terrible performance.

We've been over this a million times and people are still pushing their predictable Brogdon agendas. Besides the ultimate irony of him and the Pacers getting, you know, actually swept against the Heat in the previous round, you wouldn't have had Hill, or the guy that actually played the best defense on Butler all series, in Wes. We'd be in the same exact situation, except we'd be facing the repeater tax a year earlier.

Probably unlikely, but wonder what the market for Wes would've been and if he still would've joined us. He may not have been guaranteed a starting role but the minutes would still be there on a contender. If we didn't have Hill, Wes probably has the same minutes. Maybe less min for Patty C or Korver (if on the team)
