That trade isn't even legal, and why would the Jazz give up a 1st + a player they just extended for two guys that are free agents at the end of the year?
Agreed with aValpo. If we were to trade Knight (Doubtful) it's likely to be a team contending for the playoffs and want that extra push. I just don't see a team trading for him knowing he's due a big contract, unless you're a team like the Lakers or Knicks who are interested in signing Knight to begin with.
One, it is legal, I checked on the trade machine. Two, you're obviously getting Burke and Burks mixed up. Burks was extended and Burke is on his rookie contract. Three, in my opinion a pick that's likely to be late lottery in a weaker draft then last year isn't worth as much as you think. I already went off on how ridiculously overvalued draft picks are. And four, we could match on any offer for Knight and Middleton. Unless they did something crazy like sign the one-year qualifying offer, which is extremely rare.
And to Matches Malone, the Jazz have amazing cap flexibility right now, and in the future. We could take a chance matching both Knight and Middleton, while hoping Exum develops. If Exum develops well, we can flip Knight a few years from now. If Exum is a bust, and Knight turns into a core piece, we can use Exum as an asset.
