I don't see what his role is going to be in the NBA that's screaming starter to me based on his skillset and developement curve. Yes he could be a useful bench player, but multiple years of developing to eventually get a bench player or not doesn't scream useful to me for a team aspiring championships. After seeing his G-League performances I expected a much better shot blocker, but his timing just isn't there. He's got great touch especially on 2-pointers, but that's pretty irrelevant cause he's not about to get good enough to shoot fadeaways vs. NBA competition. He's got a decent handle for a big, but again he's not about to handle the ball.
I can see some bridge skills to eventually make him a lot more useful than the average role player, but I don't think it's feasable to expect him to break through the average role player threshold anytime soon. And that is still far away from the championship playoff contributer role. Honestly I would just cut bait. I'm still open to take a chance on youth, but the floor should still be useful to this team or the ceiling so high that taking a chance is worth it eventually. I don't think either is the case with Mamadi.
