So because he presented the truth of Milwaukee’s segregation and offered hope that could improve with strong leadership, he immediately felt the need to move to Indianapolis? The premise that Brogdon “wanted out” is unsubstantiated gobbledygook to this point.

Milwaukee, Philly, Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn will be in front of Indy. Orlando, Miami and one of Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta can push Indy out of the playoffs pretty easily IMHO.

Would be funny if the schedule is laid out so we have pacers games at the end of the seasons. Horst sees they have a 3 game lead as the seventh seed over the 9th seed and tells Bud demolish these guys and we can add a lottery pick to your arsenal next year. Bucks win by 50.

Why do you say this ?

Someone mentioned it to me at work. Rumor they heard on the radio or something. Figured it'd make it's way here if there was something to it.

Obviously it's all conjecture, but the money quote people are extrapolating from is...

“Not at all. Before I came to Milwaukee I’d heard the city was the most segregated in the country. I’d heard it was racist. When I got here it was extremely segregated. I’ve never lived in a city this segregated. Milwaukee’s very behind in terms of being progressive. There are things that need to change rapidly.”

Sure, he doesn't literally say "I don't like Milwaukee.", but it's also easy to see how someone might not enjoy living in a place they described as such.

It sounded like someone who actually wanted to help change that. Who wanted to be apart of a progression away from segregation. And has been stated, going to Indiana is very similar to Milwaukee/Wisconsin.

I understand why one may infer he feels that way, but to present it as a truth when we don’t know is disingenuous and simply not factual

Gery (yeah I know) reported during the year that one of the big parts of our core wanted out of Milwaukee. Brogdon fits that narrative. Gery was the first to report that Brogdon would be sign and traded so he must have an in with Brogdon’s camp. Connect the dots and it adds up.

Could we have done Bogdanovich Brogdon instead of Middleton Mathews? I know which one I’d pick.

If you're leaving Milwaukee because of the politics you're not moving to Indianapolis.

If Brogdon really wanted out, ideally, he would have gotten a 4/85 offer from a more desirable market from his perspective.

If Indy had the only 4/85 offer & Milwaukee didn't want to match, which they clearly didn't for whatever reason(s), then Malcolm doesn't really have a choice.

So what you're saying is he left because of money, not because he doesn't like Milwaukee? I think that's a big part of it. I also think he's going to have a bigger role with Indiana and will get the chance to create in the PnR that he rarely got here. I see many FT distance jumpers in his future.

Sometimes you also need to read between the lines and know who he is as a person. How he grew up and what he's about to go along with everything else.
Knowing how his parents raised him, Is it really that hard to believe that someone like him would not want to live in Milwaukee?

Besides the fact he said the things he did about Milwaukee including it's a racist city, he also never once. Literally not once ever said he wanted to return. Never said he wanted to be a Buck. Never said he liked Milwaukee, nothing.
Where on the flip side, Bledsoe, Middleton, Lopez, Giannis and Hill all publicly said they wanted to return.

When Brogdon was asked the same, he said. Let the chips fall where they may.
He has never said he had an interest in returning. We even hear guys lie about that saying, "oh I'd love to come back", even though it's BS. Brogdon never once said that.

There were also the rumors around that he and Bledsoe didn't get along.
I don't remember Giannis ever talking about Brogdon either. He was outspoken about Middleton and Bledsoe. He was outspoken about Lopez, but mums the word on Brogdon.

I am not in that locker room personally. I am not in the coaches or GM office, personally.
But sometimes if you put on your investigation hat and just take a step back and look at the facts surrounding the situation, it's clear that something was up with him and the team.

I really need to see the pick protections on this. If it is only lotto protected then I really like this now after the Wes signing. This can be a long term sustained success win.

I think the contract and the Bucks unwillingness to match it had a lot more to do with Brogdon leaving than anything else.

That isn't to say that Brogdon's accurate perception of this city's historical and present day racial divides were not a consideration. Remember, he had a teammate that was assaulted and tased by pieces of **** at the MPD - that I'm sure was a disturbing experience for everyone with the Bucks. But he's praised the ownership and FO for their leadership on three issues, and besides, Indiana isn't a beacon for progress on that, either.

Either way, he's getting paid more than I think most people suspected he would have gotten a few months ago, and he'll get a lot of opportunities there to actually run offenses and is in a good situation with a talented roster, a solid head coach, and a respected front office.

That, coupled with the contract, is a good reason to head to Indy if the Bucks won't match. Nothing I can do but wish him the best, as long as it isn't against us.

If we traded RoLo, Hill, Mathews, a 1st and 2 2nds for Brogdon I would think we way over paid. Not bad, Horst.

Yeah. I'd say money was the biggest thing. It almost always is. That he'll likely have more opportunities on the court is also a bonus.

After that, I'd say Brogdon had the highest value of our pending FAs around the league. If the front office did decide somebody had to go to avoid the tax/retain even a modicum of future flexibility, you might as well let the guy with the highest trade value that you also have the most control over via RFA be the guy to go since he can get you the most in return.

Next, I'd say is the medicals. I don't think anyone has seen them but older, busted Achilles-er Wes Matthews has played more minutes than Malcolm all three seasons they've been in the league.

After even that would be any conjecture about Brogdon maybe not liking Milwaukee or not. I think going to Indy is irrelevant to this point (which may itself be irrelevant to begin with if Malcolm indeed found MKE copacetic) since he had no control over who offered him the most money, which was likely the biggest thing to begin with.

If you were able to divine all this, then the Bucks are stupid for not trading him as soon as they figured this out. He would've fetched a pretty good return as part of a package (Conley maybe), and not protected picks and a TPE that can't afford anyone that good.

Either way this was bad asset management.

Maybe it's not Milwaukee, Giannis, or Bledsoe. Maybe the problem lies with Brogdon. Maybe he's a stuck up prick. Or maybe it's nothing at all. The fact is, fans like to think they know about these guys, but they really don't. We may never find out.
I find his segregation comment hilarious and stupid, but best to not go there.

This came down to money and injury risk. Malcolm has previously been in Charlottesville (we all know what happened there) and is now in the state where the KKK was born. Milwaukee has geographical city segregation issues, but is a dream in terms of general racism compared to those other locations.

I do think it rubbed him the wrong way when we traded for Bledsoe too, but he seemed to get over that pretty quick. Who knows.

You did, and it confirms a lot.
