Giannis Thread - "The Finals are different, I hope to be back soon with the Bucks"
About to blow through the previous thread.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Giannis Thread
At the Bucks Meeting:
Horst: "Look, Giannis. We need to rebuild. We can either tear down what we've had and you can sulk and wait it out for a couple years, or we can trade you to Atlanta for a bunch of young talent and picks. Then, in two years, you can opt out and come back here to a young, well-stocked roster with a ton of tradeable assets to improve for another multi-year run."
Giannis: "Welcome to Atlanta where the players play."

Re: Giannis Thread
That’s the true best path forward.
Instead of trying to build something around him for two years with no cap space and no assets, get the supporting cast in place and have him come back when Dame’s contract frees up a max salary slot.
Seems like something he’d be game for.

There’s no way he’s coming back if we trade him. Stop with these fantasies.

Re: Giannis Thread
It’s kinda safe to say that the organization is in this predicament because of Giannis right? For better or worse, every move we’ve made has been to keep Giannis happy for the better part of a decade now and we’ve ran out of assets. If he turns his back on the franchise now and asks for a trade then he’s just the biggest con man out there. Idc what is available in the draft any given year, if his trade value isn’t the #1 pick plus, it’s just simply not worth trading him. Even if he asks for a trade, I’d simply tell him no dice and I’m not biting my nose off despite my face. I’m taking the risk that by the time he exercises his player option after the next 2 seasons, he’ll be back fully on board with the direction of the franchise. He can theoretically suffer through a down season for the good of the franchise moving forward. I’m not even sure why the Bucks are entertaining this at this point.
RIP Kobe Forever. GOAT 8-24. Long Live Giannis

Re: Giannis Thread
Giannis wins MVP next season, has a monster season, sees how he likes the team next summer, and if he's still unhappy, then he can ask for a trade, and teams will still line up with killer offers for the chance to get the league MVP and extend him for 3 years. Conversely, if he likes what happens here, he can just finish out his career in Milwaukee and retire as the greatest Buck ever.

I agree and And1 this. Ray Allen never wanted to come back
But let’s see where the family lives. Maybe they stay or maybe they all go.

Just out of curiosity, do you seem to be set on trading Giannis? Seems like it from your recent posts.
I personally think Giannis wants to be a Buck for life and I think we will be able to convince him that we can still build a contender. I also think trading Giannis would be extremely foolish. We’ve got second apron dilemmas coming for many teams and a golden age of parity on the way. You should never trade your generational superstar in this era. You only need to add a few solid guys and a little bit of bench production on the fringes to build a contender if you’ve got a Giannis.

Re: Giannis Thread
Next offseason the team should be able to make a more flashy move and Dame presumably would be back too, the regular season doesn’t matter just make the playoffs next year. I don’t buy Giannis has way less value with 1 year less on contract

Re: Giannis Thread
The sell for him this meeting should be that we've blackmailed Doc into running a modern NBA offense with Giannis as the fulcrum flanked by shooting, athleticism and pace. And the starting lineup won't be a slow C and three forwards.
Horst and the owners should just give Doc a ceremonial Executive VPOBO so he can play golf weekly and out of the 435 assistant coaches find the guy who has a more contemporary vision on both sides of the ball.

Ray was heartbroken after the trade and initially wanted to come back to MKE. He mentioned that Dale Ellis found his way back to the Bucks, so maybe he would too. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for Ray to get over it and completely forget about MKE. Same thing would happen to Giannis.imo

I wonder what Thanasis would do. He seems pretty tied into a lot of local businesses with his podcast and other media.

I was worried for a bit that he might actually leave but the more I think about it, the more shocked I would be if he asked out. I think he stays here the rest of his career, and any iffy comments or non comments from him are just him trolling around or a strategic way to increase the value of our picks.

Bucks amply shaking things up and making another run with Giannis in seasons to come seems much more likely to me than us becoming contenders some other way over the next 7 years.
I fear we’d be looking at an Andrew Bogut era level peak if we do deal Giannis as opposed to the Kareem trade.

Wouldn't it be absolutely hilarious if Giannis somehow led us to the finals or won it all this year? Like he goes super Sayan and just rolls through the playoffs. That would be *chefs kiss*.

That’s as much a fantasy as anything since Doc is still the coach, Kuz is on the roster, and they have no true path to a real supporting cast.

Re: Giannis Thread
Bunch of teams are shedding salary due to the new apron dynamics.
If ownership would take on more dollars that'd open up possibilities.
Getting beneath the 2nd apron to close out this season gave us more flexibility this offseason. But it's not like Kuzma worked out on the court if we could combine him with Pat or whoever else for someone more expensive.

I wonder how Horst answers if Giannis pointedly asks about trading Middleton and AJ for Kuzma
