That has to be the lowest total in the league. Heck, even if we didn't get Mayo, if Webster or Brewer started at SG it's still only 6 or 7 respectively.

And it's probably the worst starting lineup in the league. Kinda weird.

The one time it was put on my sub at Subway I spit it out while trying to direct it at the fool who thinks "Ranch" is spelled "Mayonnaise".

This team needs a 2 gaurd who can get his own shot, and I think Mayo provides that. I don't think Memphis would take what I'd be willing to give up, so I think I'd revisit this after we have seen what the new roster looks like on the floor.

i'll be the first to admit i was raged when mchale traded him for love. but looking back on it now im happier we have love. i wouldnt mind parting with love but i believe we could get a better player then mayo.

if we centered a deal around flynn for mayo i wouldnt be upset or thrilled to be honest, i still think flynn's got a huge upside and could pan into a very good pg in this leauge.

Worse than the Nets and Pacers? I don't know about that. Certainly undersized to some extent, though.

I saw the title and knew a bad Klomp joke was coming.

Pretty much. Personally, I would have gone with "I like it, but it's too fattening. Goes straight to my thighs."

OJ Mayo is what most of us expected him to be, and not what most of us hoped he might become.

Mayo was the third pick in the draft because there was a belief that he had a chance to be a superstar. He has definitely not been a superstar, even with the ball in his hands on the lowly Memphis Grizzlies. He's just an OK-to-good guy, and I think the glamour that he will become a superstar is gone.

Specifically for the Wolves, I think we have to rank him a little lower. I don't think he'd stick around here, two years from now, and I think he'd want the ball too much to mesh well with Rubio. Still, Kahn loves these lottery busts, and I don't mind his fascination, if only one guy ever catches that 1% chance he reached his potential. I'd include Webster in a package.

Shows how much you know. Mayo has played STRICTLY off the ball. Hollins won't even let the guy bring the ball upcourt. Conley dribbles the clock out when Rudy and Zach aren't hogging the ball. Mayo is used more as a catch and shoot guy. If the Grizzlies use him like the combo guard that he is, he would be much more productive. That's not to say that he isn't already, because he is...but he would be even better.

There are just way too many myths out there about Mayo. He's actually become a bit underrated as of late. For example, people will say he is a chucker yet he shot an efficient 46% from the field and 38% from 3 last season. You can try to convince yourself all you want that Love will be the better player long term; pesonally, I've seen nothing to suggest that. But the truth of the matter is, your team would have been in much better shape if you'd built around Jefferson and Mayo because Love, while a gritty rebounder, is no post threat like Big Al and Flynn, Brewer, West, etc. damn sure ain't no OJ Mayo.

Not that shrink needs me to defend him, but he didn't say bring the ball up. He said played "with the ball in his hands." If you look at some usage stats I think you'd see the point he's trying to make. To Mayo's credit, he played a lot more within the offense last year than his rookie year, and the team improved.

Come off Mayo's jock for a minute and try some advanced stats:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... eke01.html
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... ooj01.html

Love's career PER - 19.4
Career Win Share per 48 - 0.131

Mayo's PER - 14.4
WS/48 - 0.069

...and Mayo is almost a year older than Love. So while Mayo is certainly flashier, I don't think it's accurate to say there's "nothing to suggest" Love might be better when all is said and done.

The Wolves would still suck even if they had chosen to build around Jefferson and Mayo. Undersized and overall craptastic.

But if the Wolves had kept Mayo they wouldn't have been able to trade for the pick that became the rights to Rubio. Foye and Mayo for Rubio and Love could turn out okay.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''
