Re: Backup "True" Point Guard
Need a defensive backup big as well.
I would rank our needs as:
SG
SF
Back up C/PF
Back up PG...we've still got JJ and Ridnour

Re: Backup "True" Point Guard
since Barea and Rubio are both represented by the same agent, I'm assuming Barea will have his butthole licked by the Wolves brass until further notice

Curry is not more talented than Rubio.
Positives Rubio
-good feel for the game in the open court
-good passer
-good defender
Negatives Rubio
-cant shoot
-limited scoring ability
-has problems playing in the half court
Positives Curry
-good passer
-good in the open court and half court
-good scorer
-great shooter
Negatives Curry
-poor defender
Without taking injuries into consideration Curry > Rubio
but since they're both injured anyways its still Curry > Rubio
You just can't keep with a pro vs con analysis like this. Sorry, Foye.

Wow, I'm glad I've been informed of this. I was not aware of this equalibrium. We need to get rid of this hack who can't run an offence and get someone who can score. Rube for Jennings, he scored 50 once, that makes him better, right?

Re: Backup "True" Point Guard
PG?
PG???
We don't have a PG issue;
or a PF issue.
We have a massive issue with our SF's and SG's.
Yes it might be nice to have a nice backup defensive C.
But it would be better to actually have a starting SG and a starting SF on the team.
I wonder about some of you, I really do.

I'd put SF ahead of SG simply because of Adelman's tendency to run two-PG sets as often as he does. Not that we don't need a SG, but I think a SF is more important for what Adelman is constructing here.

Klomp wrote:The starting PG wasn't a problem when Rubio was out. Ridnour and Barea played very well. Rubio's absence simply magnified the fact that we still havea number of holes on this team.
Ridnour must never ever be put in the point guard position again.
One of the worst point guards I have ever seen, completely empty numbers, plays zero-less than zero defense and completely and utterly ruins all flow on the offensive end of the court.
He looked at his best when he was playing shooting guard next to Rubio and even then he looked average.
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

Llull?
Llull?
Eeeem...Come on boy. Biased Real Madrid & Llull fanboy.
Really? Llull? LOL WTF!!
Please, oh please. LOL. Llull!! Lol. Mr. Red Bull, lol!!
Apart from Navarro who is old and won´t come back to the NBA, who´s better? (and I said non-NBA

Again…, of course SG and SF (if we don´t trust Williams there) are the only musts this offseason.
This said, what´s the problem in considering other minor improvements that could have some impact on the team, just for the sake of speaking about something…? It´s not like we´re going to distract Wolves´ management from doing the right thing or something. Just agreed with the poster that we have two PGs that are tiny and don´t defend at all.
I wasn´t thinking of llull as a starter, just a name that came to my mind when thinking about a cheap stopper combo guard. I´m far from being a real Madrid fan. This guy has been awarded as best PG in the ACB this year, if I´m biased then I guess I´m not the only one. Whether he´ll make it in the NBA or not… that´s another history, but last year there was also many people in Spain saying that Rubio was going to be a huge bust and look now. Llull has developed into a prolific scorer and he was already a very good defender. What else for a 10th man?

Is this a joke?
Saying that this team needs a back-up point guard is like saying that a guy with a hole in his head needs a nose job.

Because this pro vs. con analysis is perfect and doesn't have room for discussion? I completely agree with you Krap, he got me.

Curry has far more weaknesses in his game than Rubio. While Rubio is weak in shooting while Curry is a worse playmaker and defender. Sub in Curry for Rubio in this Wolves team. I honestly don't think they would win more games.

jason williams with a (very good, not decent) defensive ability is All star level to me. And more important, are the type of players that move me to watch basketball games. Show time!
