Yet he starts and averages 30 mins/g still often playing as their big on the floor. (6-5)
What's wrong with some of these coaches and teams? They just can't get out of their own way.

You just know Rosa is salivating at the mouth right now with the thought of adding him to the team, AND extending him for 4 more years at an overpriced rate. He'll be one step closer to his idol Morey.

Gordon is a very inefficient offensive player who wants to have the ball in his hands more than it is advisable and who brings average defense at best. Collins is a superefficient guy on offense who does not require the ball as much but he is kind of a black hole, and he brings similarly average defense (his help defense is nice, his 1-on-1 not so much, and that's what's hurting the Wolves the most).

Out of the two I'd take Collins over Gordon every day and twice on Sundays, but the price would be a problem, both now and when it's time to re-sign him next summer. Minnesota does not have much to offer in terms of players, so the Hawks would want draft compensation, and the Wolves are not in a position to trade away any more FRPs. Then you have to keep in mind that Collins is most likely going to command a salary in the 25M to 30M range in just a few months. Even if Rosas was willing and able to get rid of Russell, you can't be paying 55M to 60M next year and 65M to 70M a couple years down the line to your PF and C, especially not when they're not a good defensive pairing right away and may never be one. You are going to need a PG and most of all you are going to need serious wing help, and that's expensive. Investing so much in your two 'bigs' (Collins is just 6-9, but he's a PF through and through) is simply not a smart way to manage your roster financially.

I'll take Collins over Gordon and Larry Nance together. Especially Larry Nance... Dude is no different from what we have.

But i also get that Collins price would be a problem. Maybe a 3 year deal to end in the same year as KAT contract.

Magic fan here:
Orlando does not have the roster slot for this trade, so Gary Clark would probably be needed to be added. (The Wolves could then waive him, but Orlando cannot).

A better trade for Orlando could be something like Beasley, Hernangomez, Rubio, and Davis for Gordon, Fournier, Clark and Aminu.

Fournier is expiring, so that frees up Wolves salary for the coming off-season, but replaces the SG this year to close out the power-tank. Orlando gets Rubio as a starter this year and as a Carter-Williams replacement to function as back-up next year. The benefit of Aminu's contract moving on is a big plus for the Magic in this trade; the 2M difference to Hernangomez is actually useful for Orlando how capped out this team is.

If Beasley is not a a head case, I like this trade for Orlando.
Ownership of the Magic is by the Amway group (DeVos family) and they are ultra-evangelical religious and super conservative. For example the owner’s wife is Betsy DeVos, a member in the Trump cabinet as the United States secretary of education.

I am not sure that Ownership could go for a head case. Is Beasley a head-case?

Beasley is a devoted christian with a rifle. It was all over the news last year actually. He also promotes polygamy, he must be a mormon.

MIN doesn’t have the room under the lux to take on an additional $5 mil in the 4-for-4 trade. I believe they have about $3.1.

I’d be interested in an Aminu-Juancho swap. But it looks like the difference is about $3.2, so if there was a way for each team to add something for MIN to slip back under a bit, I’m ok with that.

As for Beasley, his off-the-court decisions you can judge for yourself. On-the-court, I think he has been very professional, and one of few players that puts his heart into these sad games. If there’s a negative, it’s that he is overplaying, and with his confidence, he wants to put the team on his back. Unfortunately, that means he wants the ball a little too much on offense, and he’s been jumping out of his defensive schemes to play hero ball. This may change with a new coach.

Thanks for posting.

My prediction:

Minnesota acquires Gordon

Before the trade, I would watch for Minnesota trading Layman or Okogie or both to teams with exceptions like the Jazz or Hornets to clear up some space and roster spots. Rosas did that last year with the Teague trade.

Minnesota trades Rubio, Davis, Vando, Culver
Minnesota receives: Gordon, Aminu, Bamba

Magic trade: Gordon, Aminu, Bamba
Magic receive: Rubio, Tucker, Davis, Vando

Houston trades: Tucker
Houston receives: Culver

Houston gets the young prospect for practically nothing. The Magic get a PG as Fultz heals and Anthony grows, plus a cheap solid defensive PF behind Isaac. Also, the Magic - who buyout Tucker and Davis save a few million this year and more than 15 million next season by getting off of Aminu and Bamba's guaranteed deals.

And Minnesota gets Gordon, who they have wanted for more than a year. Also, Vanderpool loves his former players, so he would be a fan of acquiring Aminu. If the Magic want to keep Bamba, I'm sure Minnesota could do the deal for just Gordon and Aminu.

This deal is a little too good for MN I think. I don't think Orlando would covet Rubio that much, especially since they're not exactly competing for a play off spot this year.
