Magic fan here:
Orlando does not have the roster slot for this trade, so Gary Clark would probably be needed to be added. (The Wolves could then waive him, but Orlando cannot).
A better trade for Orlando could be something like Beasley, Hernangomez, Rubio, and Davis for Gordon, Fournier, Clark and Aminu.
Fournier is expiring, so that frees up Wolves salary for the coming off-season, but replaces the SG this year to close out the power-tank. Orlando gets Rubio as a starter this year and as a Carter-Williams replacement to function as back-up next year. The benefit of Aminu's contract moving on is a big plus for the Magic in this trade; the 2M difference to Hernangomez is actually useful for Orlando how capped out this team is.
If Beasley is not a a head case, I like this trade for Orlando.
Ownership of the Magic is by the Amway group (DeVos family) and they are ultra-evangelical religious and super conservative. For example the owner’s wife is Betsy DeVos, a member in the Trump cabinet as the United States secretary of education.
I am not sure that Ownership could go for a head case. Is Beasley a head-case?
