the Kings desperatly need a PG so they'll pick Fox. Orlando needs scoring so, the'll probably go after Smith. So we could have Tatum, but is he more than a less athletic, better rebounding version of Wiggins?
Better defense, better rebounding, better handling, bigger, stronger. Whether he ends up being a 22PPG scorer or not, Tatum has the ability and team oriented mentality to become a better all-around player than Wiggins, who's still mostly an efficient scorer going into his 4th season.
I'm not confident at all that Tatum can fall that much (I can see the Suns taking him before Isaac, and the Magic picking him instead of DSJ), but if he's there and your worries are that he and Wiggins may be too similar, then it's the perfect excuse to move Wiggins for a two-way All-Star like Butler, who would give the Wolves an excellent trio of wings with LaVine and Tatum. Now that would be the start of a truly exciting year...
How does Tatum compare to Otto Porter?
Tatum is more offensive minded, he's a better scorer especially from the post and mid-range, his ballhandling is more developed and he's shown some nice vision at times, though he also tends to commit some TOs that could be avoided. He's a guy that you can rely on offensively to a bigger extent than Porter Jr coming out of college and probably now (you can never be 100% sure with rookies, of course).
On the other hand, Otto has improved quite a bit defensively since his rookie season and he's got the advantage on that end, plus he knows his role and excels at it, which is rare in young players. I think Tatum has the tools and the motor to be an above average defender at the very least, and like Porter he's a humble guy that should have no problem doing what the coaches tell him and putting the work to get there in the next few years.
