Agreed. While we may not get a James or Duncan type player from this draft, I don't think he'll be a Bennett or Bargnani either.....I think he coul easily settle in as a Simmons, Griffin type. Might take a few years, but he can get there.
I'll wait for games. Talk has been cheap for too many years.

OK, we'll see you back on the forums in a couple weeks then. Have a nice vacation.

It's much more to the norm to go all doom and gloom and despair before the games.

Well, team-wise yes that is the norm. Top draft pick wise complete opposite. Always seems to be a sales crew for the top pick further selling the instant amazingness we can expect. I would rather focus on the bulk of the team going in but that's just me.

So don't click on this thread if you don't want to read about the rookie?

Reading about news on the rookie, or reading expectations and hype about 25 ppg and being all defense and handling multiple roles or whatever as a rookie...not the same thing. As usual, before the season starts he will be expected to start and carry all the teams chances for the season for some here. These are the posts it will be my task to start avoiding.

I think as a board we are being incredibly reserved about a player taken #1 overall in the draft. Almost nobody is even declaring him a day one starter. I don't remember anybody predicting 20 PPG or even all rookie status. About the most hype you will find is the expectation for him to start eventually.

It might take 5 or 10 minutes to find the examples so I won't. But they are littered all over here. In this thread even. So for you, someone who obviously reads a lot here because you plus1 nearly everything, I find it funny you claiming not to see them. These are the reminders for me to stop opening your posts.

I'm going to look at the posts from the Anthony Edwards thread page by page.
Page 1. Not one single post hyping him.
Page 2 One person said he thought we got the best player in the draft. He was picked #1. No predictions of anything he would do.
Page 3 One person from Atlanta saying he's going to be a star and whining about Rosas repeatedly saying get to work.
Page 4 Not one post declaring any greatness whatsoever.
Page 5 One person said he's going to be so good. No predictions
Page 6 Calinks saying that with a couple if's to be determined he feeling pretty damn good about him.
That's the first 6 pages and barely any hype whatsoever. Actually a lot of reservations and negativity to be found. Maybe more hype type posts are found from 7-13. I will get to them.
Page 7 I said Skies the limit for him and he could develop into a superstar. Minimus got excited about his Ht,Wt and Vert
Page 8.
