I didn't see any defensive ones, or ones where he leads a team...just a bunch of dribbling and shooting...and if he was getting paid what Beasley is I would be happy with it.
Oh I see, this is where Dlo is stealing your money again. We've heard others with this gripe.
YOU CAN BLAME THE TEAM, COACHES and ROSAS. They are the ones developing rookies and second year guys to the point DLO isn't putting up your fairytale required level of points, assists, rebounds. He has done it, can do it again. Put it all back into his hands and tell all the little new stains to fall in line already.
Some of you are so freaking shallow and come lately. So many will faint at the sight of a rookie this season getting a triple double (LaMello), or a player hogging nearly 48 possessions to bravenly shoot 31 times for 42 pts as a rookie (Edwards). Yet, at the same time, they want to piss on the memory of another similar player who has done all those same things as a young player not many years ago, yet on better efficiency even back then...he's still young now. But...he's not the shiny new chrome draft pick that everyone worked themselves up about recently is he.
Easy tiger. First, it isn't my money so I don't really care, but pointing out production doesn't equal payment shouldn't be that upsetting to anyone.
Secondly, I completely agree that Russell has been misused. That's no fault of his own, he is who he is as a player. Asking him to turn into a Chris Paul/Jason kidd style of point guard is completely unfair. To say he has done it, well that's debatable, but he has shown ability to play at a high level, it just hasn't consistently shown up.
Finally, DLo is young age wise, but not experience wise. That example is a bit weak. DLo has flashed ability in the past, but when in the league for what, five years already, the expectation of night in and night out consistency isn't unreasonable. Maybe that's all usage, maybe not. Maybe that's all supporting cast, maybe not. Maybe it's just Russell, maybe not. Likely it is a combination of all three. So, while people jumping on rookie highlights looking for the next star does overlook players at times, it's also perfectly normal when said players aren't producing to expectations regardless of reasons. I'm not saying it's fair, but that it's normal.
My personal issue is I just don't see Russell as the type of point guard/player I like...same as Kat. Both are very talented players, and if used correctly, both could be + nba players, by plus I mean good/great). However, I don't see either being able to become a true leader/#1 player on a legit championship team. Kat is likely a 2, and Russell a 3. This my hopes, and current disappointment in Edwards, though as you have said, in time some things could change. I don't like "could". Low iq and questionable effort is not excusable, and never likely to change a ton. Which is why I am agreeing with you, shortly, on a different thread regarding Jalen Green.
So, while I can respect your like and respect for DLo, understand my dislike of him isn't rooted in just his time with the Wolves, it's a much larger variety of things.
