Trade:
5th pick to Denver
Faried and 15th pick to Minny.
With 15th pick draft Luwawu or Sabonis.

wow, Faried. Imagine how disappointing that would feel.
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit at the thought of trading the 5th pick for Faried. Serge Ibaka is certainly an interesting thought though.

I rather get Murray but Dunn's hard nose defense, energy, and discipline might sway Thibs during workout and interview. Seems like his type of guy.

There's so much Dwyane Wade in Kris Dunn IMO
Hield has a lot of that, too.
Really? Do you seriously read this part of his scouting report and think "that sounds like Buddy Hield"?
Regardless of what position Wade plays, he is going to have to add a jump shot to his arsenal. Wade rarely relied on the perimeter game at the college level because of his ability to take his man off the dribble. The athletic guards of the NBA are far more likely to be able to contain his penetration. Wade better be able to go to his jumper once they do.

You're reverse engineering.
I said Hield has a lot of what Wade has, meaning I think Hield has a lot of the same ballhandling, slashing, and finishing in a smaller than optimal SG package, that Wade had--only Hield shoots it better.
I'm very interested in seeing how Hield turns out because his shooting could be so hot that he becomes the best player of the draft.
Major boom potential for Hield.

Hield really doesn't come close to Wade's explosiveness.

I would have to pass, I just don't like Faried's game outside of his hustle. I wouldn't think he would be somebody Thibs would target, but maybe I'm wrong.

Faried is good in defense. KAT, Wiggins and LaVine for score is enough in my opinion. Moreover it isn't only Faried, we could draft Luwawu or Sabonis too. 5th pick for Faried isn't enough for me.

Maybe not, but he has the ability to finish in traffic and is really nifty around the rim like Wade.

Re: 2016 draft thread: Part 2
I don't like that Hield doesn't seem to have positional flexibility. That gives both Dunn and Murray a major advantage, to me.
I also like the fact that Dunn is older. He's 11 months older than Wiggins, 12 months older than LaVine and 20 months older than Towns. Not too old that he doesn't fit the age range, but it should be a little quicker of an adjustment for him. (for the record, Hield is four months older than Dunn, and Murray is 15 months younger than Towns.

Why do people keep saying Dunn can't shoot?
48% 2FG.
45% FG%.
37% 3FG%.
I'm surprised by that, I thought he was a much worse shooter than that. Didn't think he would be worth drafting to replace Rubio, but if he shows up to be a good shooter in workouts, I can definitely see Minny taking him as backup PG. His defense, size, mobility, athleticism are excellent for PG prospect so it makes it much easier to get him. He has hovered around .690 FT% for 3 seasons so I would make sure he is a good shooter first.
I think he's a decent shooter, certainly seems to have a better shot than Rubio, but like you pointed out I do have concerns with his FT%. Outside of the decent shooting and at times questionable decision making (seems like he is improving though) I love everything else he brings to the table as a PG.
I do question how good he is off the ball and that is my biggest problem. We already have Rubio and I think people forget how good he is. It's just not a position of need. I would rather take somebody like Murray if we are looking at going guard with the pick. All in all I wouldn't hate taking Dunn, because i do like his game, but I think we would be better served looking elsewhere.

You may regret weighing positional flexibility so heavily if Hield fulfills his potential as a lights-out scorer.

Not when we already have two players who should be locked in for 30 mpg.
If you want Hield to get 20+ minutes as a rookie, prepare yourselves for the PG LaVine Show, boys and girls....

There's really no substantive reason I can think of for Hield not being an elite prospect. His #s are off the charts, his quick-release perimeter bomber style is what the NBA loves right now, and his measurements are good. People feel kinda uncomfortable with seniors sometimes, and w/ Hield specifically, there seems to be this idea that he blew up over night, but he's been good for awhile, just started his freshman year slowly and then flew under the radar playing for a second tier program that's never been known as an NBA talent producer. But his sophomore year beats Oladipo's sophomore year for example, so he's been putting up nice #s for awhile, he just completely took it to another level this year.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you on Faried's defense, he's a below average defender. IMO Luwawu or Sabonis isn't worth taking on Faried and trading the 5th pick, the value just isn't there for me.

Murray has a 6'6" wingspan - it might the difference between a guy that's a decent fit at 2 positions or a guy that's a great fit at 1 position.

It's a 1/4th inch longer than McCollum's....he does OK at two different positions, don't you think?

28 mpg for LaVine, 20 mpg for Hield. Problem solved boys and girls.
Next I will take on climate change.

He's been good for awhile, but until this year he was much more of a volume scorer than a efficient scorer.
I do agree that seniors get a bad rap and everyone looks at them as finished products which is not always the case. He is a little worrying because his first 3 years he was a fringe prospect, probably late first round material, then at 22 he figures it out and he is seen as a potential top 5 pick. I have seen a lot of video on him and I feel like he has I improved on his weaknesses and has refined his shot, but I personally still like Murray over him.

He's an elite shooter but not really elite at anything else. If he stays an elite shooter and is able to create his own shot in the NBA, he'll be good. If his shooting regresses to where it was as a junior or he's not able to create the same type of space he did in college he's probably going to be pretty average.

Dunn's shot chart:

Hield's shot chart:

If you were an opposing NBA coach would you rather game plan against Dunn or Hield? What do you do with Dunn if a good defensive team takes away his left-handed drive and finish?
