Good argument. Would you like some more straw for your argument?

If the fear is that he might get injured in practice or in a game, what other reason is there to step foot in a gym?

Your seriously going to roll with this straw man argument? okay. The fear is that he gets injured in a game that doesn't matter to the Wolves. But, hey you are arguing that the risk of Andrew Wiggins getting injured walking into a gym is the same as playing organized competitive basketball. I didn't realize gyms were so dangerous. See, straw man arguments just lead nowhere.

Do you think NBA players just forget what basketball is over the summer? Even if he doesn't play for the NT, he's going to play pickup, Pro-Ams, etc, all of which will be significantly less organized and equipped to deal with injuries than a national team practice/game.

Did I say I didn't want him to play basketball at all?

No, but you said you don't want him getting hurt in a meaningless(to the Wolves) game for the national team. I'm saying that he will be playing games no matter what, so why not have them be more serious and organized games that will help his development and minimize effects on his health?

Minimize effects on his health? How? The games you are referring to would probably be the most competitive he plays all summer. With that competition comes the greatest risk of injury.

Mattya is right.

Pickup ball/ProAm ball is nothing compared to Olympic Qualifiers/World games..I remember playing with a guy who played professionally in Brazil and he came to play some pickup basketball at a Navy base gym with his brother and some nobodies like myself.

He would barely get up for rebounds or take it in; mostly would just go for the occasional 3 pointer or nice pass on offense and some nasty blocks on defense. Someone asked him why he was playing like that and it's because he doesn't want to get hurt playing "Meaningless games"..

Imagine an NBA player and not some dude who plays in a nobody league in Brazil. Andrew won't get hurt playing summer pickup ball at UCLA or some random Canadian amateur league because he knows what could happen if he plays 100% in meaningless games, but playing for a National team that actually MEANS something to him and his country is a greater risk of getting hurt because he's going to put more effort into these games like he is getting paid millions to do on the Timberwolves.

It's all about miles. Miles on the body. Wear and tear. Like in the fight game: Actual Years vs Fight Years. Actual Years vs. Basketball Years. Wiggins is so young in both that maybe it doesn't matter now, but it will soon enough.

Playing like that won't help his development at all, though. Playing for the national team that relies on him would help him become even more aggressive and a better scorer/distributor.

His top 2 things he needs to work on are 1) dribbling and 2) strength. Playing for his national team doesn't help him in either of those areas.

He also needs rest. He just turned 20 and already has sore knees. I think Flip will need to lower his minutes a little next year.

I agree that he needs rest, but if he's going to play somewhere, I'm ok with it being the national team. Playing in that environment has done wonders for American players. Hopefully the Canadian team will be similar, even though the skill level is lower.

Team Canada will do him good, who better to help improve his handle than Steve Nash?

Getting Bazz back and Zach most likely seeing a rise in his minutes will definitely reduce Wiggins' minutes.

Now its time to hear from other teams fans as to why he didn't deserve it for blah blah blah and a couple more tears.

peolple argue about noel being better after all-star break, but look andrew stats in that span:

6.2-7.9 with .783% FT
6.8-15.3 with .446% 2pt
2.3 ast, 4.9 rebs, 0.7 blk, 0.9 stl
20 ppg.

Seems like legit stats for ROYto me.

Congrats to Young Master Wiggins. God knows us Wolves fans needed some good news. Hopefully the next piece of good news will be winning the lottery. :)
