He might've been a little too amped against his old team. At the same time, he also took a lot of open shots. Shots I don't really mind him taking. When Thad is back, his role'll be smaller. I actually really like what he brought to the table defensively and on the boards these last couple games. He's a surprisingly big dude and very mobile. The fact that he's a perimeter threat is just extra. I like Jefferson but I think he'll be better as the 3rd PF when we desperately need energy or someone is in foul trouble.
i dont think it was just the lakers... he was kind of in chuck mode vs the cavs as well. I also thought his D was kind of weak today. i dont mind him taking 3's but the long 2s need to go as well as him shooting with 19 or 20 seconds left on the shot clock.
i think he can be an ok reserve for 12-14 minutes, but he can also be a big liability if he isnt hitting his shots. not to say CJ would be any better, overall we still have an enormous issue at PF. even with thad back.
IDK I'll have to look more carefully next time. Against the Cavs, I saw him defend Love well a couple times. Switch out onto perimeter guys. Rebound well. Even today, Hill hit a couple contested jumpers over him - which is fine with me. Not saying he's an elite defender but I liked what I've seen so far.
He was kind of in chuck mode vs the Cavs but today he was FULL on chuck mode. So I'm hoping it was just that he had extra energy from playing his old team. I'm fine with him playing 15-20 minutes a game depending on matchups. I don't think we need TOO much out of our PFs if the entire team is ready to compete.
i think at 20 minutes a game he is going to hurt you. we need thad back, and even then i dont really want thad in more then 20-24 minutes. i think we can probably get away with it, but eventually its gonna hurt us. we get smashed on the boards because of it, even with lopez improvement. 3rd worst in the nba allowing second chance points.
i didnt think he defended well at all today. vs the cavs i didnt think he was bad. but the cavs dont go big. i just hope he can hit 3's, if he can then he wont be a negative
