its just hilarious how the knicks fans puff out their chests like they are some kind of world beaters because they were a 2 seed last year. like thats some kind of other worldly accomplishment, especially with the east in major transition(nets major changes, pacers growing up, bulls sans rose, celtics era ending, etc.)
then you have them thinking that because they wont have as many injuries they will somehow be better... which to me is the most misguided view of all. its not like they are getting rose or granger back from injury... hell all the guys they lost to injury basically retired(kidd/wallace) or moved on (camby). you'd think they'd be getting back a 33 year old kidd and wallace injury free or something the way they talk about not being plagued by having those guys injured.
not having those guys on the roster is kind of the same as them being injured anyhow.
dont even get me started on bargani. view the knicks board and the guy is some outside shooting assasin who has been killed by his poor cast. some dead eye shooter. yet they minimize the shooting impact of novack and copeland.
they are in for such a rude awakening. they still have major pieces with injury histories(amare/chandler) and they didnt address any of their major needs(defense at the 4/rebounding) while losing a ton from their major strengths(3 point shooting/passing).
their team as major diaster potential and a lower ceiling then a year ago. cant wait to see the bridge jumping they do once they start 11-8 or something
Pretty much. The thing is, you just have to accept them for who they are: a sad group of fans/organization that tries to make themselves feel better. this is just how they deal with being a big market blunder. Think about it, imagine being the biggest market team in the league and being the most embarrassing? Back in the 80s the Heat were the NBA's current version of the Bobcats and now the Heat have surpassed them in championships with their only drafted future hall of famer, D-Wade while the Knicks had Ewing and couldn't win it whatsoever. Now, they have a team that threatens them for the next 37 years that very well has the potential to outpace them like Miami.
They just have program themselves into being some big time franchise with a major ton of credibility. They'll act like they are so much better than the Nets and the Nets were their rag doll but in actuality, the Nets/Knicks have an all-time record of 84 to 87 against each other and a 5-5 record in playoff meetings.
They would actually alienate Brooklyn from New York City if they could just to not acknowledge the Nets as a NY team if they won it all this year. I've seen people say the NY media didn't pay any attention to the Nets and they were still not relevant as Jersey. Wrong.
The NY media had the Nets on the front pages and back last year:

And the toughest one to swallow:

The Garden was the "mecca" of sports entertainment and basketball for years. Now, the NY media proclaims that Barclays is the new mecca, imagine that feeling. Now, they feel the need to continue to think that MSG is the mecca of basketball despite the fact, there has been 0 success in the current Garden.
They'll tell you the Nets have no fans despite the fact, the Nets averaged 95% attendance capacity on nights/days when the Knicks were playing at the Garden during a Nets game. They'll tell you the Nets only have control of Brooklyn not NYC, despite the fact, 30% or so of Nets attending games last season were from Manhattan, 10% from Long Island, 10% from Queens. In terms of viewership over 40% of people viewing the Nets games all season long were NY, 30% from NJ and the rest from CT. And the Nets brand is global despite it being strictly a "Brooklyn" team...Which never stopped the Dodgers from being a popular franchise either.
They'll tell you the Nets don't fill their own arena while the Nets finished with 96% arena attendance. Which is same as the Knicks and they will tell you the fans were "one hit wonders" and that's a lie, considering the season tickets have sold around a little more than the Knicks.
The way I see it, any insult is a sign of fear. Every deluded claim is a sign of endless hope that amounts to nothing. So, I don't feel anything but sympathy and pity for them actually. They'll just have to deal with the reality of their situation eventually.
