Brooklyn construction gets the thumbs up

I wish this had came out one day earlier. Last night i went to Tavern on the Green that restaurant in central park and Jay-Z walked in and he was eating with some old white guy but his back was to me but I think it could have been bruce ratner. They went into this room and the doors were open but there was bouncers at the door but you could clearly see him sitting there. I wanted to yell KEEP THE NETS IN NEW JERSEY!!!! but i wimped out

I hope the nets suck big time when they move to brooklyn and then we get an expansion team that does better than them. Maybe I should open another thread but what would be a good name if new jersey did get another team??? Alot of times in video games when i create my own team i name them the Newark Dimebags but i dont think that will go through as long as Stern is the commish.

No way if the Nets move to Brooklyn that NJ gets an expansion team why do you think the Nets are tryin to get out (there's no money here). If your a true Nets fan you want what's best for your team and moving to Brooklyn is whats best. Brooklyn would attact the free agents and more fans so the Nets stop losing so much money. I was at the Knicks/Nets game last night with my friend who is a Knicks fan and I was embarassed to call the IZOD center home what a joke. There was so many empty seats even for the Knicks. I think there were more Knicks fans there. Brooklyn is whats best for the Nets lets get it done at least by 2011. Please

I agree, I'm actually all for the Nets heading to Brooklyn. They have lost money basically for the past decade. Even in our finals years, we barely broke even. Even moving to Newark, I guarantee we will lose money. If we don't move to Brooklyn, they'll sell the team and move them to like Seattle or Vegas or something far away. For that reason, I'm totally behind the move to Brooklyn.

Im gonna have to go the other direction as you two. Im a season ticket holder and I agree we couldnt get a full house if they were paying people to come, but that doesnt affect me in any way shape or form other than getting easier parking and smaller lines to get my 10 dollar snickers bar. But more important to me then the team is representing your home city or state, which is why im not a giants fan. Im still gonna support the Nets like every other nets fan (hopefully) but if another team comes to new jersey i gotta roll with the home state. Am I alone on that last point?

You're not wrong that if another team comes to New Jersey, you'll switch allegiances.
The complete fact of the matter is that we will NOT get another team. I think David Stern basically said this a few months ago. So that leaves us with a couple options,
1) Move to brooklyn to become a viable team financially. This keeps the Nets in the same television market and allows the team to be profitable (hopefully).

2) Move to Newark. - We get the more convenient location than the swamp, but most likely won't be as financially stable then if we were to move to Brooklyn. This will lead to Ratner selling the team to who knows. Could be a new jersey group, or it could be owners who want to move the team across the country.

So in my mind, we either move to Brooklyn, or we get sold and moved across the country, never to get another team.

I choose Brooklyn.

I agree somewhat.

I want them to stay in New Jeruz, but I want them to move to the Rock.

I live literally 10-15 minutes from the Rock and although Brooklyn isn't that far either, I would rather they stay and rep the home state.

FA's changing cities just doen't happen as much as some like to believe, at least impact FA's.

This is not baseball we are talking about where 15-25 big name players switch teams each year through FA.

The NBA player movement is all about trades and small time role players leaving.

I will still support them if they move to Nam, but if by some crazy chance we did get a new team in NJ, that team would become my 2nd team.

I posted that before reading the article.

Just read it.

That article said nothing new and was the same old rhetoric that Ratner and friends have been spitting for the last 4 years.

This leads me to see no new developement and in all reality, this uncalled for update makes me think there have been further recent setbacks.

It seemed like an unprovoked panic statement.

The reason why the IZod center is empty most of the time is for lots of reasons: A) attendance is down in other places as well, signifying that the economy is playing apart in it; B) Bruce Ratner had all intentions of moving them out of Jersey from the get go, so why would people even bother rooting for them anymore; and C) IZod stinks. Move them to the Rock, and Nets attendance will go up with time.
