You sure? I heard Kolek's pretty much already as good as Brunson, a top 5 NBA player...

I get it, Knicks fans don’t watch college basketball or follow the nba draft closely, but Kolek is one of the most nba ready players in this draft. We needed a backup PG to actually run the offense, that’s not Deuce’s strength. But the good thing is you can play them both together if needed. It’s not Deuce’s replacement but someone that brings a missing element to our bench.

If he plays, I dont see how Tyler wouldn’t cut into Deuce’s minutes mainly though.

Here’s the rough breakdown of our likely minutes:

Jalen 35 / Deuce 13
Mikal 24 / Donte 24
OG 18 / Josh 24 / Mikal 6
Julius 34 / OG 14
Isaiah 28 / Mitch 20

Deuce, Donte, and Josh are already getting their minutes cut with the addition of Mikal.

Our 2nd unit needs a PG. Yeah Deuce and Tyler can play together, but then Josh or Donte get reduced even more.

We’re getting ahead of ourselves here obviously since Tyler may not pan out, but Deuce better get his PG abilities up asap because we’re trying to win a ring here. Mikal has reduced the need for Deuce a bit in general also.

But the cool thing about this team is that there will always be an elite wing defender to help out. Kolek is 23 so more ready to contribute than a regular rookie, he led the ncaa in assists so he can actually get others involved as a pure PG if he doesn’t score himself, can shoot the 3. I think with his ability to orchestrate an offense he might crack the rotation at some point especially if we don’t bring in another vet PG

Well I mentioned this before but quickley played nearly 20mpg as a rookie backup pg and he also was quite a bit younger than Kolek. And we were the 4 seed. Toppin also played I think 11-12 mpg as backup PF as a rookie the same year, and grimes played 17mpg as a rookie and even started 6 games before injuries derailed his season. And these were all teams trying to win. So Thibs will absolutely play a rookie if he thinks they are worthy. But he will likely have to prove himself first

Watching Kolek's clips there's no doubt this guy can shoot. That, plus the ability to handle the ball and be a tough SOB who can score in traffic among the trees like Brunson should appeal greatly to Thibs.

If he plays like blazes in SL and training camp and is not in G-League, I expect Thibs to play him some tester minutes if Kolek is sharp in practices.

One thing that stood out to me is he consistently maximizes his reach by getting full extension with his arms on drives. That only works offensively if you have a shooter's touch and he does.

From deep he has a quick release, almost as fast as Divo's.

That was just typical KNICKS hate from that era. Everybody was doing it. Now, it's trendy to love the KNICKS again and actually discuss us fairly. I think their impressions were spot on.
