I think it's strategic and the fan base thing factors in, but it is also about trying to squeeze the Knicks.
Whether that's Denver's intentions (remember, they are in a really unenviable position) and whether its effective is two separate stories.
If Walsh is aware of it, how effective is it going to be?
This has been my point all along. The press isn't going to shape this process significantly. This is why reacting negatively to new stories that don't read in in the KNicks favor is a waste of fan's time.
There is an unspoken anxiety amongst fans that so long as the stories favor other teams, the process favors other teams.
The anxiety is unfounded.
