I think he knew has was going to get some players (and and MDa repeatedly said as much) and be able to compete at the bottom of the Eastern play-off picture.

KnicksGod wrote:Well did Walsh mean they are posturing for their fan base or partially posturing to influence him or other internal players?

I think it's strategic and the fan base thing factors in, but it is also about trying to squeeze the Knicks.

Whether that's Denver's intentions (remember, they are in a really unenviable position) and whether its effective is two separate stories.

If Walsh is aware of it, how effective is it going to be?

This has been my point all along. The press isn't going to shape this process significantly. This is why reacting negatively to new stories that don't read in in the KNicks favor is a waste of fan's time.

There is an unspoken anxiety amongst fans that so long as the stories favor other teams, the process favors other teams.

The anxiety is unfounded.

Alan Hahn predicts what The Nuggets and Nets true strategy is with these leaked trade proposals

Hahn himself, with all due respect is a leak.
Dolan is his boss. I take his "info" and "opinion" with a grain of salt.

To be fair: Hahn rarely delivers "big scoops" that turn out to be nothing at all. He seems to be the most grounded beat writer around. I actually enjoy his work.

He's a good writer but the fact that Dolan signs his checks does carry some weight I'd think, in what he writes and doesn't write. I subscribe to his theory as well for what it's worth.

Hahn straight up called Lbj to Miami the night before it happened. I'm sure Dolan told him to do that, too. (green font).

It was solely in response to you apparently taking his opinion with a grain of salt because of newsdays affiliation with Dolan. He's the best beat writer we have.

^ Knicks?

SMH at the nets 'acknowledging' that Melo wants to play for the Knicks, yet trying feverishly to 'force him to NJ' because they know how 'crushing' it'll be to fall even further behind the 'first' team in town...funny how that works..

Billups, Hamilton Humpries Melo and Lopez wouldn't be anything special, to say the least.. though as i've been saying, you have to think given the amount of time theyve had and how the two teams, Denver / NJ, have been working so hard together, that it's only a matter of time before they find some third team to buy into sending a few decent players to NJ w Melo... in which case perhaps he'd sign - that's the only scenario i see Melo not coming here...though I still like our chances.

but our strength / hope still lies in Melo holding the final decision in ALL of this....if he doesn't want NJ, he ain't going... Rip Hamilton or not.... I think as Hahn says, it's clear the two teams are making everything very public, if not to make Melo look bad simply for when they accept an offer (from the Knicks?) they can look back and say, well we could have done 'this this and that' but they didn't work out.

it's dead, jim

# As @Al_Iannazzone wrote, NJ-DET talked as part of Melo 3way. Talks died when NJ wanted DET 1st rounder AND dump Petro on them, sources say.

this sh*t is getting ridiculous.. prokerov clearly doesnt know what he's doing.. he has to be the one forcing the issue. the nets are in a good place to rebuild through the draft and perhaps be at a halfway decent place by the time they get to brooklyn if theyd just focus on that.. if i was melo i would be insulted.. like no means NO lol.. what part of that is not understood smfh.. imo its like an insult to the intelligence and clear sign of desperation.. stalker status

How would Melo, Billups, Hamilton, Lopez and nothing else (now or the future) be anything to entice Melo?

They must think he's stupid.

He has a better team right now in Denver, and a younger one.

In some bedroom there is a 12 year old in spiderman pajamas high-fiving himself for accurately calling the proposed Melo deal in a lock thread.

"Now who's sane you stupid muthufukkas?!" he shouts as he stares at the Trades and Transactions page.

It doesn't make any sense on either side. A) Why would Melo want to go play on a worse team? and B) why do the Nets think this is a good plan for their franchise instead of a traditional rebuild?
