These players - all of them. Ja, RJ, Reddish etc, are getting drafted at 19 or a young 20. That's really f*cking young.
This is the debate over how much is there from the jump, and how much do players have to develop, either on their own, or in combination with the team.
I'm leaning that in the NBA, players either establish themselves early most of the time, or they don't.
Yet RJ has taken what is clearly a steady developmental uptick.
Ja was dynamic right away.
Maybe with Cam there is more to develop. I mean, players used to have to stay in college until age 22 and then it took until after their rookie year, and age 23, to start to put it together.
Again, it would be great for it work out.
Didn't with Mudiay or Mario, maybe 3rd time is the charm.
I know the Knick want to win and in spite of how Burks annoys some, he's pretty valuable in certain ways, to the team.
That said, Knicks need to get rid of at least Burks to ensure Reddish gets enough playing time, now that they've decided to use a #1 pick and a roster spot on him for this year and next year.
I think every player develops different. Some get better, others dont. A team/environment can help, but only so much. Great players will be great no matter what, and bad players will be bad there is no helping them (Knox). Knicks are used to young players regressing so i think that's why everyone is skeptical. But when a player improves year to year that is a great sign. Or sometimes the light bulb goes on and everything clicks at once. In the end nobody really knows and everyone just guesses
